From robotic storage to a fully automated warehouse

Robotic arms, automated storage systems, and warehouses where goods find their way almost entirely on their own. When you think of warehouse automation, your mind likely turns to the very largest logistics players. But according to Richard Hagen Versteeg of Element Logic, those days are behind us. Automation is now within reach for a much broader range of companies. Element Logic will demonstrate this at Logistica Next, taking place November 3–5, 2026, at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht.

Element Logic originally specialized in AutoStore, but has since grown into a versatile systems integrator. From its Benelux office in Bemmel, the company develops comprehensive automation solutions, in which AutoStore is just one of the possible components. Conveyor technology, case erecting and sealing machines, robotic arms, mobile robots, and software are combined into a single integrated solution.

From Challenge to Comprehensive Concept

Thus, at Element Logic, the story definitely does not start with a machine. “We first look at the customer’s processes and where they want to be in five, ten, or fifteen years,” says Hagen Versteeg. “How can operations grow within the existing space? Where are the bottlenecks? And what technology fits that vision? That’s what makes automation interesting for medium-sized companies, too. With a few hundred to a thousand orders per day, it can already be worth exploring the possibilities—especially when space is limited, volumes are growing, or it’s becoming increasingly difficult to deliver orders on time.”

The advantages are clear: goods are stored compactly, employees have to walk shorter distances, and the error rate decreases. “What’s more, the available space can be used much more efficiently by utilizing vertical space,” says Hagen Versteeg. “For example, an AutoStore system can be built up to over six meters high and can be flexibly integrated into existing buildings, even around obstacles and columns.”

Experience it for yourself at Logistica Next

It is precisely this versatility and accessibility that Element Logic wants to highlight at Logistica Next 2026. “At our booth, visitors can not only learn about the technology, but above all experience what an integrated automation concept looks like,” emphasizes Hagen Versteeg. “A massive interactive 3D video wall will serve as the visual centerpiece, complemented by robotics and a unique interactive experience. So you really won’t be able to miss us,” he says with a laugh.

But the trade show isn’t just about spectacle. According to Hagen Versteeg, Element Logic is also bringing logistics specialists and data analysts to Utrecht. “Visitors who bring basic data on their volume flows, order profiles, and processes can immediately discuss the feasibility of automation for their operations with our specialists.”

So, do you want to know which automation solution is right for your operation, based on where you want to be in five to ten years? The answer to that question might start with a visit to the Element Logic booth.
