Renovating Industrial Concrete Floors for Robotics. Steven van Oossanen of BECOSAN on Flatness, Wear, and Maintenance

A level and well-maintained concrete floor is becoming increasingly important in modern distribution centers. Especially with the rise of robotics and automation, cracks, worn expansion joints, and level differences can have major consequences for forklifts, reach trucks, and autonomous systems. In this episode of “Tussen de Stellingen,” [name] speaks Roel van Gils with Steven van Oossanen from BECOSAN on the renovation of industrial concrete floors. Roel van Gils: Welcome to another new episode of “Tussen de Stellingen” from Warehouse and Logistics. Joining me at the table is Steven van Oossanen from BECOSAN, the European market leader in the renovation, polishing, grinding, and upgrading of industrial floors—covering large areas, of course. Welcome, Steven. Please introduce yourself briefly.
Steven van Oossanen: Steven, that's right—as you mentioned, BECOSAN Flooring, headquartered in Spain. We actually operate throughout Europe, including the United Kingdom.
Roel van Gils: Well, look at that. So what exactly do you guys do? Just a few lines, because we’ll go into more detail on that later, of course.
Steven van Oossanen: Basically, what we do is renovate industrial concrete floors. That means that when a tenant moves out of a large distribution center—and the floor is often part of the lease—we step in, get everything ready, so that the new tenant has a new floor.
Roel van Gils: Because when a tenant moves out, a building may seem empty, but it’s often anything but. You still find all sorts of things there, don’t you?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely. No two floors are alike. You never know exactly what you’ll find. But it’s often something that’s been in use for twenty years. There’s been heavy traffic, and there were large warehouse racks.

[01:08] Remove the alignment marks and wedge bolts
Roel van Gils: So the tenant moves out, and the shelves are often taken down. The property needs to be ready for a new tenant as soon as possible. What happens to the floor then?
Steven van Oossanen: Basically, what you see is that as soon as a tenant moves out, we remove the floor markings. So we essentially leave the floor bare. All the anchor bolts are removed.
Roel van Gils: You just draw that line, right?
Steven van Oossanen: Often not, unfortunately. We have two types of markings. One is just tape, which is easy to remove. But very often it’s shot-blasted, which means it’s actually embedded in the floor.
Roel van Gils: It's a bit of a letdown.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely. So you really have to sand that off—either with a machine or by hand, depending on the situation.
Roel van Gils: Okay, maybe we'll come back to that later. Or maybe we definitely will. And then there were the wedge bolts on the racks. Those are staying behind, too.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely. Usually, other companies take care of removing the racks. And that’s when we step in. Then we see several thousand bolts that need to be removed. What often happens in the Netherlands is that they grind the bolt off just below the surface. The big downside to that, though, is that when a new racking system is installed, you’ll run into that bolt again when you’re setting up the new racks.
Roel van Gils: Yes, and of course you don't want that.
Steven van Oossanen: No, that's the last thing you want. Absolutely. So what we do is remove the bolt completely. Then we fill the hole neatly with epoxy mortar. We sand it down again. And you basically end up with a new floor.
Roel van Gils: Okay, well, that sounds simple.
Steven van Oossanen: In theory, it’s always simple, but with projects like this, you naturally run into all sorts of issues in practice.
Roel van Gils: Because there’s often a long gap between when the tenant moves out and when the new tenant moves in, isn’t there?
Steven van Oossanen: Ideally, as little time as possible. We work for virtually all of Europe’s major property owners—companies like Prologis, WDP, DHL, and Amazon. Naturally, they want to minimize vacancy as much as possible, because that costs money. So we often work with crews that work six days a week, ten hours a day, to ensure the project is completed as quickly as possible.

[03:07] 18,000 wedge bolts in Germany
Roel van Gils: Because you told me during our conversation about a project in Germany. You had to remove 18,000 wedge bolts there.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, that's right. It was a fairly large distribution center where we removed about 18,000 bolts over the course of four and a half weeks.
Roel van Gils: So, you work with multiple teams. How do you go about that?
Steven van Oossanen: They call it a logistical nightmare.
Roel van Gils: So all of that has to be done at night?
Steven van Oossanen: No, in this case, the tenant had already moved out. So we can actually keep working almost 24 hours a day. Well, those guys need to get some sleep every now and then, too.
Roel van Gils: So do you work with just one team there?
Steven van Oossanen: No, in this case, there were three teams that were actually taking turns the whole time.
Roel van Gils: So how do you go about it? What does that look like?
Steven van Oossanen: That's actually old-fashioned manual labor. It literally just involves drilling holes with a drill and pulling out the bolts.
Roel van Gils: Oh no.
Steven van Oossanen: Clean out the hole and fill it back in.
Roel van Gils: 18,000 times.
Steven van Oossanen: Exactly.
Roel van Gils: You just mentioned pulling it out. How deep is a hole like that, then?
Steven van Oossanen: It depends on the wedge bolt used, of course, but ten to twelve centimeters isn't unusual.
Roel van Gils: So you remove it and then fill it with epoxy mortar.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes. Epoxy itself is actually quite hard—rock-hard, in fact. And as you can imagine, when something is that hard, it cracks very easily. A concrete floor always moves a little, so if you fill it with just epoxy, it often cracks. So we make a special mixture—low-shrinkage mortar with epoxy—and use that to fill it in. It has exactly the right hardness, doesn’t crack, and looks good aesthetically as well.
Roel van Gils: Or, yeah, sort of the same color. Do you see all those little pits?
Steven van Oossanen: Normally, you see, what happens with this kind of thing is that as soon as a distribution center is put back into use, that kind of floor actually gets dirty and grimy. Then everything ends up looking the same color. But of course, we have the option to color that mixture of epoxy and mortar. So we always try to match the color of the floor as closely as possible, whenever we can. It’s designed for heavy traffic, so aesthetically, it’s not really that important.

[05:10] Expansion joints
Roel van Gils: No, I get it. It just has to be neat and functional. So when you look at a move-out like that: remove the markings, take out the wedge bolts. Are there any other tasks you handle? Do you do a lot of leveling?
Steven van Oossanen: Leveling expansion joints, for example. So consider, for instance, a distribution center that’s 50,000 square meters, often divided into different halls—say, five halls of 10,000 each. There’s a joint—a transition—between the halls. Concrete moves. So over time, you often see that such an expansion joint—it’s not a speed bump—but it’s not pleasant to drive over with your forklift or reach truck.
Roel van Gils: Just imagine if it were robotics.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, sometimes it even gets stuck. Think about how much that costs per year in forklift maintenance or robotics maintenance. I had a client in southern Spain who had that problem… We’re just talking about replacing forklift wheels, shock absorbers—that sort of thing.
Roel van Gils: Yes, that's in the documents.
Steven van Oossanen: That’s why. So you often see people waiting too long to fix those kinds of things. Because you might drive over it just once. But every time you drive over it…
Roel van Gils: And it's getting bigger, too.
Steven van Oossanen: Repairs are getting more and more expensive. Your machines require more and more maintenance.
Roel van Gils: So what's the solution?
Steven van Oossanen: Call me.
Roel van Gils: But what do you guys do, then?
Steven van Oossanen: We're really going to level the playing field.
Roel van Gils: Take that one out too, right?
Steven van Oossanen: Generally speaking, yes. Of course, it depends. Look, what I'm saying is, every floor is different. So you never know exactly what you're going to run into.
Roel van Gils: No, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution.
Steven van Oossanen: No, never.
Roel van Gils: Basically, the joint is being removed.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes.
Roel van Gils: And then you guys fill it up.
Steven van Oossanen: Fill in the gap, create a new joint.
Roel van Gils: And then? Lifespan?
Steven van Oossanen: It depends on traffic. It could easily be ten to twenty years.
Roel van Gils: So, more than just a standard solution.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely. We often fill it with low-shrinkage mortar, because there’s simply less movement, really. And because of that, it doesn’t rise as much—it doesn’t expand as much. So that really makes a big difference.
Roel van Gils: Okay, that’s actually pretty drastic—taking on a joint like that. It just comes out completely.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes. Look, of course you could just sand it down a little bit on the surface, but then I'd have to come back the following year to do it all over again.
Roel van Gils: But do people know this solution exists? Because what’s it called? Does it have a name?
Steven van Oossanen: Well, we actually just call it a low-shrink joint. From a marketing perspective, maybe I should call it a Becosan joint. That would be better. But it is often the best solution. Of course, it’s also a solution that’s a bit more complicated from a cost perspective. You often see that people naturally opt for the short-term solution, which costs a little less.
Roel van Gils: And is that the standard practice for new construction?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, often. Look, it really depends on what the floor is built on. What does the foundation look like? Is it sand, clay, or something like that?
Roel van Gils: …
Steven van Oossanen: That’s why it’s so important. My main job at BECOSAN is actually to travel throughout Europe to conduct inspections. I check: What does the floor look like? What does the joint look like? How can we repair this properly? So that you won’t have to worry about it for the next ten years. So that it’s truly robust. So that your machines can drive over it safely without causing any damage to the equipment. And these days, of course, with AI and robotics, we’re seeing that it’s becoming increasingly important for that floor to be truly level.

[08:45] Flatness and Robotics
Roel van Gils: Yes, really flat. What do you mean by “really flat”?
Steven van Oossanen: Those are differences of a millimeter. Look, in the Netherlands we have flatness classes. Off the top of my head, that’s NEN 2747. Don’t quote me on that. Flatness classes 1, 2, and 3. Class 1 is a high-precision floor. It’s suitable for robotics. The difference across the entire floor must be no more than one millimeter.
Roel van Gils: Well, okay.
Steven van Oossanen: Because just imagine: if you go one millimeter over the mark with a robot, and that robot then lifts ten meters—it’s a reach truck, a forklift—and picks up 2,000 kilograms at that height, then that one millimeter on your floor at the bottom suddenly becomes five centimeters at the top.
Roel van Gils: Yes, of course, we don’t often think about that. But are a lot of these types of floors also installed in the Netherlands or the Benelux?
Steven van Oossanen: The problem is that installing a floor like this is very difficult.
Roel van Gils: You mean it's hard to pour concrete?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes. So what often happens is that they install a floor, let it dry, and then we come in. We recently had two separate machines custom-made in China for this purpose. That way, we can upload the flatness report we receive from an engineering firm into the machine. The machine has an iPad and a joystick, so my colleague literally stands right next to it.
Roel van Gils: So he still has to serve him.
Steven van Oossanen: He does have to assist him, of course, and keep an eye on him. But he’ll take the lowest point and say on his own: “Well, it’s a little higher there. Let’s grind some off there. There too, there too, there too.” And then you end up with a high-planometric floor.
Roel van Gils: Okay. So is it ready for use right away, or is there a follow-up treatment applied afterward?

[10:30] BECOSAN Treatment
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, our preferred method is our patented BECOSAN treatment. It’s actually a water-based treatment that uses lithium. What it does is this: once a floor like that has been sanded down a bit, it becomes open—it’s a little porous.
Roel van Gils: Porous.
Steven van Oossanen: And then we apply that lithium treatment. It reacts with the free lime in the concrete, and the result is rock-hard. That’s why we offer a ten-year dust-free guarantee on it. Plus, it’s safe for your staff.
Roel van Gils: The dust-free section.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely.
Roel van Gils: But isn't that mainly the case with new construction? Or can it work for both?
Steven van Oossanen: It works for both. It can also be used on newly installed floors. But it’s especially important for older floors—ones that have been in use for a while, so to speak. In that case, it’s important to treat them properly.
Roel van Gils: In the beginning, or does it just depend?
Steven van Oossanen: It really depends. We can do it one millimeter at a time, but we can also do it one centimeter at a time.
Roel van Gils: Oh, right, you have to follow a certain sequence.
Steven van Oossanen: It’s often important to check whether the floor has underfloor heating.
Roel van Gils: Oh, right, and the rebar, of course. That shouldn't be left exposed either.
Steven van Oossanen: No. Generally speaking, the rebar is placed at a depth of ten centimeters. But even there, every floor is different.
Roel van Gils: Anyway, that goes for the layout plan as well, of course. But yeah, that's the floor.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes. And look, with a high-density floor plan like that, you can also choose, for example, to leave the racks in place and just work on the aisles. So the machines we had built in China are also fairly narrow.
Roel van Gils: Oh, right, so you can go in between those courses.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, these days they call it VNA, which stands for Very Narrow Aisle.
Roel van Gils: Okay, what does “very narrow” mean? How wide?
Steven van Oossanen: Everyone can decide that for themselves.
Roel van Gils: But your machine is capable of a speed of?
Steven van Oossanen: One and a half meters. So robotics can actually get through that pretty easily.
Roel van Gils: Yeah, okay. Well, that sounds nice. Sounds interesting. And are they already in use?
Steven van Oossanen: As it happens, we’re going to do something like that next week or the week after. By the time listeners hear this podcast, I think we’ll already have started. We’ll already have begun our first project using this approach. And I think this will likely be the future, of course. We can never predict the future, but there’s a pretty good chance.

[12:39] The Floor as a Foundation for Robotics
Roel van Gils: Because, of course, a robot looks at a floor differently than we do. Everyone’s talking about robotics and all that, but it actually starts with that floor.
Steven van Oossanen: It’s become a bit of a pet topic of mine, but look: you can’t open a single social media platform without seeing it discussed. It’s just that you never really hear about the prerequisites needed for it. Without a level floor, robotics is useless. We talk about optimizing WMS systems and things like that. But if the concrete floor at your distribution center isn’t up to par—that’s literally the foundation you’re going to build on.
Roel van Gils: Well, great. Let's see. So, from your perspective, you cover the Benelux region. But I understand that BECOSAN's scope of operations is much broader.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely. Our holding company—we’re originally a Spanish company—is also located near Málaga. So I’m often there myself.
Roel van Gils: That's no punishment. But is there a lot of back-and-forth?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely. But we do carry out our projects throughout Europe. And while the majority of our work right now is in Germany, England, and the Benelux countries, we also do a lot in Spain itself. We have quite a few projects in France as well.
Roel van Gils: Some projects, but in the Netherlands, the Benelux?
Steven van Oossanen: A great deal. After all, we’re a country that’s ideally suited to be a distribution hub. And certainly, of course, with Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and Schiphol.

[14:04] From Inspection to Renovation Proposal
Roel van Gils: So how do you go about it? When they call you, do you go take a look first? Or do you or one of your colleagues go?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, generally speaking, we start by looking at photos to see if I can already come up with some ideas based on them. Based on that, if the budget allows, I’ll visit the site, and we’ll conduct an inspection. Then, back at the office, I’ll sit down with our technical team to figure out: Okay, what’s the renovation proposal? We’ll draw up a detailed quote. And from there, we’ll move forward with the project.
Roel van Gils: And are the new users' requirements already being taken into account there? Or is this purely from the tenants' perspective?
Steven van Oossanen: It’s usually from the owner’s perspective. That is, the owner of the property.
Roel van Gils: Yes, that's right. Anyway, I'm sure you know who's going to be on it.
Steven van Oossanen: I’ve also come to know in advance quite often when the old tenants are moving out. That’s nice. It lets us really plan ahead. And generally speaking, look, we’ve been doing this for fifteen years now. And we have a lot of repeat customers. Many property owners sometimes have millions of square meters across Europe.
Roel van Gils: Yes.
Steven van Oossanen: So, generally speaking, I’ve gained some confidence by now that they’ll say, “Why don’t you go over there and take care of it?”.
Roel van Gils: Look. Because when you add it all up, you guys really operate in a pretty unique niche, don't you?
Steven van Oossanen: I think that before I started working here, I had no idea about this whole world behind distribution.
Roel van Gils: No, you see trucks coming and going, and the packages arrive at your home, but of course, a lot happens behind the scenes first.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely.
Roel van Gils: And to make that possible, there's a lot more going on.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely. What I’m saying is, there’s just a whole huge world behind it all. We’re talking about distribution centers covering tens of thousands of square meters, where hundreds of people are working at the same time with forklifts and reach trucks, and trucks are coming and going.

[15:53] Wear and Tear and the Right Time for Repairs
Roel van Gils: But those floors do wear out. On average, how long does a floor like that last?
Steven van Oossanen: Oh, it really depends on how it’s used and on traffic, of course. Take, for example, a steel mill where large steel coils weighing 5,000 or 6,000 kilos are transported. In that case, an expansion joint like that will naturally take a beating. You’ll quickly see some wear and tear, small cracks, and things like that. Then you often see that it’s left unrepaired for too long, causing the crack to get bigger and the damage to worsen.
Roel van Gils: Yes, because that's exactly what you said. Often, people wait too long to call you.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes. I always say: actually, the right moment is when you see your staff—and you often see people driving around on forklifts in large distribution centers, driving through those aisles all day long—when I talk to someone like that, they tell me: aisle 4, Hall B, that’s where the crack is.”.
Roel van Gils: Yes, they know that.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely.
Roel van Gils: Okay, well, in that case, the crack is already visible.
Steven van Oossanen: There's really nothing you can do preventively in that regard. What you could do preventively, of course, is grind off a small piece and treat it with that lithium treatment. But anyway, that would be an ideal world.
Roel van Gils: They're not quite there yet. And how exactly do you make a difference? Because I assume there are several other companies that can do this.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, I think the biggest difference lies in the value for money. Because we’re the European market leader, we work with various teams that can be deployed throughout Europe. And the experience we have in this area, combined with the prices we can offer, ensures that we’ll have plenty of work in the coming period.
Roel van Gils: But isn't that price significantly lower than what other companies charge?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, it can sometimes make a difference of as much as 30–40 percent.
Roel van Gils: Oh, really? Where is that mentioned, then?
Steven van Oossanen: Experience. Machines. We invest a considerable amount of money in our machinery. But that means… Take, for example, the machines we used to have—they could literally only grind off one millimeter at a time. So if six millimeters needed to be removed, I had to run the machine over it six times. That takes six extra days. And the new machines we have can remove those six millimeters in a single pass.
Roel van Gils: But all at once. Do you have to wait afterward, or is it because of the surface area that you can't walk on it more often? Isn't it possible to work with multiple machines at the same time?
Steven van Oossanen: That's certainly an option. We do that regularly, too, when the job allows it.
Roel van Gils: Anyway, you also have to bring in more people, and so on.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, absolutely.

[18:17] The Floor of the Future
Roel van Gils: Okay. When we think about the floor of the future, what do you think the ideal floor looks like?
Steven van Oossanen: At least in the short term. And I also think it’s been handled really well from a preventive standpoint. So if we look at it this way: suppose you have 10,000 square meters that’s going to become vacant. Then I think it’s important to make sure right away: okay, make sure it’s completely in order. That it’s been properly maintained. It’s dust-free for ten years. And if you then send a team every year or year and a half to keep up with maintenance and fix the worst issues, that really saves a lot of money in the long run. Instead of waiting until something is actually broken.
Roel van Gils: Yeah, I get it. And what do you mean by “keeping track”?
Steven van Oossanen: Often it’s just small cracks or something that fell. Someone who let a pallet bounce on the floor. Things like that happen. Of course.
Roel van Gils: But you guys do that too, right? So not just those large-scale renovations, but repairs as well.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely. Especially for a few of Europe’s major property owners. We simply use a ticket system for that. That literally means that the tenant, the landlord, or the property owner can submit a ticket to me. They say: Okay, this is what’s going on. Here are some photos. And based on that, I’ll draw up a plan. When, how, what? How urgent is this? Does it need to be done right now? In a month? Or is it perhaps not urgent at all?
Roel van Gils: Okay. And that treatment you just mentioned—your unique treatment, so to speak, that top layer—can you restore it, for example, if it gets damaged?
Steven van Oossanen: Yeah, look, repairs are tricky, of course. Because let's say there's damage somewhere and I grind off five centimeters—then you end up with a five-centimeter dent.
Roel van Gils: That's not ideal, indeed.
Steven van Oossanen: But even then, you can still fill in and level it out. So this, too, is… I have a colleague who’s already… Our technical manager has been doing this for twenty years. I always call him the “concrete whisperer.” So whenever I’m unsure about something, I call him.
Roel van Gils: Then he should come up with a solution.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, exactly.
Roel van Gils: And it always works out.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, of course.

[20:19] Advice for Property Owners
Roel van Gils: Okay. What advice would you give to listeners who are hearing this conversation?
Steven van Oossanen: Don’t wait too long to get repairs done. Look ahead to see what the plans are. You’ll notice that more and more people are now starting to think about AI, robotics, and automation. Those are plans that, of course, cost a great deal of money. And for those, the foundation—the groundwork we were just talking about—really needs to be solid.
Roel van Gils: Yes, but I can imagine a property owner who doesn’t know who the tenant will be in five years. Investing in such an expensive floor under those circumstances is, of course, a bit of a dilemma.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely. Look, you always have the option of renovating the floor as thoroughly as possible. You could always consider, for example, using high-precision leveling only on the aisles.
Roel van Gils: Yes, that's also possible. As you mentioned, indeed: only between the shelves.
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, definitely. The fascinating thing about this is that, of course, you can never be 100 percent sure what will happen to your property, who will move in, or what will become of it. So that’s always a challenge.
Roel van Gils: There isn't really much of a game of musical chairs when it comes to rentals.
Steven van Oossanen: No, it’s not as bad as you might think. In general, the largest clients don’t have as much vacancy as you’d expect. Of course, these are also fairly specific properties.
Roel van Gils: Yes, they were often built by the owners themselves at some point.
Steven van Oossanen: Absolutely. And there are few companies that can just take 60,000 square meters into use on a whim.
Roel van Gils: No, of course. But I assume there are also companies that build their own buildings—or are there only a few?
Steven van Oossanen: You’re seeing that more and more, too. Of course, the bigger players are increasingly building their own facilities and trying to design them in a way they deem most suitable at the time. But you need deep pockets for that, of course. And that’s where it gets tricky. Look, I handle the flooring for distribution centers, so I’m staying within my area of expertise. But it’s hard to see where this whole concept is headed. Data centers, that sort of thing. Where are they all going to be located? Is there a need for local distribution centers? Or are we seeing more and more true logistics hubs—which are already much more common, like the ones around Moerdijk, for example? Of course, that’s just speculation.
Roel van Gils: Yes, of course, I understand.
Steven van Oossanen: A large property owner like that could surely say a lot more about this than I can. But what does it mean for the floor? For the floor, it actually means that each project has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis. What’s really important? Who is the new tenant moving in? Or if you don’t know that yet, what can we do now? And what are we going to do once you do know who’s moving in? That’s kind of the…

[23:05] Unforeseen Circumstances During Renovations
Roel van Gils: You guys can handle that two- or three-stage rocket, too.
Steven van Oossanen: Look, what I really like about this job is that you never know what you’re going to find. Well, the challenging part of the job—I might say—is that you never know what you’re going to find. And I can’t see what’s under the floor either. So it can happen that you grind off a few centimeters and come across old underfloor heating. The rebar that’s much higher up, old wedge bolts that weren’t properly removed back then.
Roel van Gils: Of course, that happens sometimes.
Steven van Oossanen: Regularly. And then it’s just a matter of patching things up. Let’s just call it renovation.
Roel van Gils: No, I see.
Steven van Oossanen: Of course, so far that’s still just old-fashioned manual labor. I expect there will certainly be more automation in that area in the future, but we’re not there yet.

Steven van Oossanen: But there will always need to be some human oversight, because safety is, of course, extremely important in such a large distribution center. There’s often a lot of traffic, sometimes 24/7.
Roel van Gils: Oh, so you're also operating while logistics continue as usual?
Steven van Oossanen: Yes, we sometimes work at night or on weekends to make sure we cause as little disruption as possible to the actual owner’s supply chain. Because that costs money.
Roel van Gils: Yeah, I get it. But of course, the best part for you is that the tenant is out.
Steven van Oossanen: In that ideal world, we would indeed have 10,000 square meters of vacant floor space. In reality, unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Steven van Oossanen: Well, as I said, we’re still focusing more on high-precision surveying solutions. Of course, we’re also looking at where else we can automate processes in the future. Because good workers are in short supply, of course. That’s obviously a pretty big problem across the entire construction industry. And it’s no different for us.
