In the presence of Mayor Kris Declercq, the Roeselare-based transport and logistics company EUTRACO today officially inaugurated six ultra-fast chargers for electric trucks and eight industrial batteries at its headquarters in Roeselare. With the largest e-truck fleet in Belgium, EUTRACO is thus taking a new step in the further electrification of its operations.
The installation, realized by Insaver (part of the Luminus Group), is part of a large-scale electrification project with a total of 30 ultra-fast chargers, 40 battery systems and 3,500 solar panels spread over four sites. With this investment, EUTRACO underlines its ambition to operate completely emission-free by 2050.
To maximize sustainable charging of its 54 electric trucks, EUTRACO is investing in an integrated energy system realized by Insaver, part of the Luminus Group. At four sites - two in Roeselare, one in Ghent and one in Willebroek - 30 charging points are being installed with a total capacity of 14.4 MW, complemented by 3,500 solar panels (2.3 MWp) and 40 batteries with a combined storage capacity of 10 MWh.
Thanks to this combination, the trucks run largely on locally produced green power, derived from solar panels and supplemented by battery storage when needed.
At its headquarters in Roeselare, the first six ultra-fast chargers and eight industrial batteries were officially commissioned today.
Mayor Declercq of Roeselare symbolically linked the first e-truck to the brand new fast chargers for a recharge with renewable electricity and said, “This investment proves that the climate transition is not a story of tomorrow, but an economic reality of today. EUTRACO shows leadership by fully opting for electrification, renewable energy and innovation. In doing so, it not only strengthens its own future, but also that of Roeselare as a leading logistics and industrial region.."
Stijn Cuppens, CEO of Insaver: “With this project, we show that the future of electrification lies in smart total solutions that bring together charging, battery storage and local energy production. That is the way to go to make industry sustainable at scale. At the same time, EUTRACO is setting a new benchmark for the electrification of heavy transport. We are particularly proud that we can realize this together."

EUTRACO today has 54 long-haul electric trucks, accounting for about a third of its total fleet, making it the largest e-truck fleet in the country. This electrification is accompanied by significant investments in charging infrastructure, solar power, battery storage and smart energy management systems.
With a full battery, the trucks have a theoretical driving range of up to 500 kilometers, depending on load, traffic and weather conditions. Thanks to ultra-fast chargers, they can be charged from 20% to 80% in about 60 minutes, good for an additional range of about 300 kilometers.

The electrification of freight transport is essential in the fight against climate change and to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. Transport accounts for nearly one-third of Europe's carbon emissions, of which 73% come from road transport.
European targets are ambitious: a reduction of 40% by 2030 and 90% by 2040. EUTRACO is proactively responding to this by replacing 54 diesel vehicles with electric alternatives. Each truck replaced will save up to 60 tons of CO₂ annually. Over an average lifetime of eight years, this means a total reduction of nearly 26,000 tons of CO₂.

For the Luminus Group, the project at EUTRACO represents an important step in the rollout of its “Electrify2030” program through which it is committed to the electrification of the economy and society, the only way to strengthen Europe's energy sovereignty and reduce CO2 emissions.
Grégoire Dallemagne, CEO of Luminus: “The current geopolitical context shows once again that Europe and Belgium must commit to the electrification of transport, heating and industry. By moving away from fossil fuels and towards electricity, we increase our energy sovereignty, ensure the competitiveness of our companies and reduce our CO2 emissions. At Luminus, we have fully dedicated our Electrify 2030 strategy to it: building a CO2-neutral energy future with electricity and innovative solutions. We would like to warmly congratulate EUTRACO on their pioneering role in the electrification of truck transport and are very proud that they have chosen the Luminus Group to support them in this effort.."
