Linde electric forklifts offer additional ergonomic benefits

Linde Material Handling launches new electric forklift models with integrated lithium-ion battery

The integration of lithium-ion batteries further improves the ergonomics of new Linde forklifts. Linde Material Handling is exploiting this advantage in the new Linde Ei series of electric forklifts. The three- and four-wheel models, with lifting capacities from 1.4 to 2.0 tons, are technically based on the existing Linde E-Series with a classic battery trough and changeover system. However, thanks to the innovative energy concept with an integrated lithium-ion battery, the new Ei models offer a noticeably higher level of comfort and safety.

The new electric forklifts Linde Ei14 - Ei20 are designed for light to medium duty single or two shift applications in temperatures down to -20 degrees Celsius. This makes the Linde Ei models a cost-effective yet highly ergonomic alternative for companies that previously used electric forklifts with lead-acid batteries for their intralogistics goods flows. Unlike lead-acid batteries, which need to be charged overnight, forklifts with (integrated) lithium-ion battery can be charged during operation, for example during breaks. Lithium-ion batteries are maintenance-free and do not emit gases during loading, eliminating the need for a separate, ventilated loading area. This allows the freed up space to be used for other purposes. It also eliminates the need to constantly check the battery fluid level and refill water. The optional built-in charger further increases operational flexibility, as it can be plugged into any standard power outlet.

Ergonomics in a new look

The major advantage of the integrated lithium-ion battery is the additional cabin space it creates. By eliminating the traditional battery tray, driver legroom has increased by 35 percent, which is significantly above the industry average. This allows for a more relaxed seating position during the working day, which benefits the driver's long-term well-being, motivation and health. At the same time, the entry is only 40 centimeters above the ground, making it very comfortable to get in and out. “This low and wide entry is industry-leading in the entire truck class,” said Richard Bozem, Senior Strategy and Portfolio Manager at Linde Material Handling. “The design provides exceptional comfort in daily use and also increases safety.”

Top performance

Like the Linde E14 - E20 interchangeable battery electric forklifts, the models with integrated battery are equipped with a 48-volt drive system and maintenance-free AC motors. This provides sufficient power for all their tasks. Thanks to the centrally located steering shaft at the three-wheeled version Or the Linde combi steering shaft at the four-wheeled version and their compact dimensions, these forklifts deliver excellent performance even in tight spaces.

Safety first

As with all Linde trucks, the safety solutions on these models are an essential part of the brand's DNA. The slim mast design provides excellent all-round visibility, while standard integrated assistance systems provide additional stability. For example, the Linde Curve Assist automatically adjust the travel speed when cornering based on the steering angle, while the Linde Load Assist uses pressure sensors and a lift height indicator to control tilt, lift and travel functions to prevent rollover accidents. Optional assistance systems such as the Linde Speed Assist (automatic speed adjustment when entering warehouses), Linde Safety Pilot (digital load diagram) and Linde Safety Guard (safety zones) provide additional security.

The Linde Ei14 - Ei20 series is part of the Linde 12XX generation of forklifts. These models are completely newly developed and feature an electrical/electronic system architecture and extensive sensor technology. This enables a wide range of digital functions. With the optional data transmission unit, operating hours and fault codes can be transmitted wirelessly and securely to the fleet management system or service organization. System updates and additional truck functions can be activated via wireless software updates.
