Safe working in the warehouse and on the construction site still high on the agenda!

Working safely in the warehouse and on the construction site still high on the agenda!

The number of periodic safety inspections and operation training of machinery internal transport and in construction, road and transportation equipment has grown again in 2021. These inspections and trainings are carried out to ensure the safety of more than two hundred thousand workers in the sector. In 2021, the number of inspections under the BMWT-Keur flag increased by 4.8 percent and the number of BMWT-Train courses by 28 percent compared to the previous year.

All BMWT inspections could proceed safely thanks to the sector protocol 'Working safely together' for inspections of mobile work equipment and storage racks. This protocol describes what BMWT inspectors can do to protect all parties involved as much as possible from contamination and consequences of the corona virus during their work.

A total of 364,919 inspections were performed in 2021. Growth occurred particularly in the product categories of aerial work platforms (14 percent), traction batteries (8.3 percent), and telehandlers (7 percent). The earthmoving machinery product category also showed an upward trend (5.4 percent).

Under the quality label BMWT-Train, more than 5,700 candidates successfully completed operator training in 2021. This is an increase of more than 28 percent over the year 2020. In addition to safe machines, well-trained personnel are an important prerequisite for safe work.

That BMWT-Keur once again shows an upward trend despite the still difficult conditions proves that companies increasingly see safety as a topic that requires undiminished attention. Safety starts with management. They give the signal to put this subject permanently on the agenda. Periodic inspections are not only required by law, but also make a major contribution to a safe working environment.
