Engcon North America Inc. consists of a sales office and warehouse in Connecticut. Given growing sales in North America, Engcon is now taking the next step and opening a facility in Canada.
Operations in Connecticut focused primarily on the nine eastern U.S. states, but thanks to machine fairs, social media and reference customers, orders have come in from all over North America. Sales and assembly from the Connecticut facility presented geographical challenges. Therefore, Engcon North America is now opening a facility in Montreal, Canada, with French- and English-speaking staff.
"It is important to represent our company in the Canadian market. The focal point for Engcon North America remains Connecticut, but with bilingual staff in Montreal, we approach the Canadian market in multiple ways," says Morten Solgaard, Managing Director at Engcon North America.
Morten Solgaard is responsible for the Montreal branch, now the twelfth. Engcon previously opened branches in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, the United States, Australia and Korea.
"We have good experiences with local branches. We are aware that each country has its own provisions, transport solutions and language requirements. Our branch office in Canada therefore offers our customers and Engcon itself many advantages," says Morten Solgaard.
Initially, Engcon Canada will be staffed by manager Anthony Wolch and a salesman currently being recruited. A warehouse will also be set up at the Montreal office to store the most common spare parts. Any additional parts can be delivered from Engcon North Americas' warehouse in Connecticut.
"My main task is to develop existing and new customer relationships, and to expand the network of service partners. Right now we have three service partners but we need more," says Anthony Wolch.
Anthony Wolch's French background is obviously an advantage in the French-speaking part of Canada. His English is also fine after all the years working for Engcon:
"Engcon is an international company and English is the language of communication within the group, so I speak English as easily as I speak French," says Anthony Wolch.
Anthony Wolch is convinced that Engcon's automatic quick couplers and swivels, combined with the company's other thoughtful attachments, offer Canadian operators new opportunities to take on new types of jobs, resulting in increased profitability.
"Once operators discover the benefits of an Engcon swivel tilt and the EC-Oil automatic quick-change system (where an operator can attach hydraulic attachments without leaving the cab), they understand that these products make their work more profitable," Anthony Wolch concludes.
