LVO measure for highways validated by RWS

After eight years of research, it has been determined that Esha PenTack from manufacturer Esha Infra Solutions meets the requirements of RWS as a life-extending maintenance agent for ZOAB. With the validation by RWS, PenTack is the first LVO measure that may be used for large-scale highway maintenance. 

Applying PenTack extends the service life of asphalt (ZOAB, but also DGD and SMA) by several years. This without consequences for skid resistance, noise reduction and water permeability. A PenTack treatment can be repeated up to three times on ZOAB, which can ultimately lead to a nine-year life span extension. This contributes significantly to the C0₂-reduction. Moreover, the application of PenTack means much less disruption to road users than applying a new asphalt layer, because the road surface is passable again soon after maintenance.

Since 1996
Back in the 1990s, Esha Infra Solutions developed the bitumen emulsion PenTack, which features a rejuvenating component. The treatment restores sufficient flexibility to the binder in the aging asphalt, preventing fraying for many years. The bitumen emulsion is applied to the aged asphalt pavement using computer-controlled spray trucks and then dusted off to achieve sufficient skid resistance.
