Speaking is Bart Bakker, managing director of Sandfirden Technics. He talks about the top brands the company supplies and the added value of Sandfirden Technics.
"To top brands, such as Scania and Thordon, we add our engineering, testing and service qualities. This allows customers to take full advantage of the technical features and performance of these products in a sustainable way," says Bakker.
For more than 55 years Sandfirden Technics has been the exclusive Scania dealer for the Benelux. Because of stricter emission requirements, Scania developed an EU Stage V engine range, which not only meets the emission requirements but also means lower fuel consumption, lower operating costs, as well as less environmental impact. "Fantastic of course," says Bakker, "but not suitable for the marine market." So the experts at Sandfirden Technics, with their years of experience and extensive expert knowledge, added the right technology to the Scania engines, developing an emission-certified marine engine. "With our own R&D department, certified welders for construction work and an extremely modern equipped test center, we can make all kinds of customer-specific modifications. This way we can technically achieve the optimum and will exceed expectations."
Sandfirden Technics is also a dealer of Thordon Bearings, another top brand. The high-quality, environmentally friendly and durable plastic plain bearings are suitable for a variety of applications. Bakker mentions shipping, clean power generation, pumping, dredging, offshore and industrial markets. "Markets where 'green' solutions are increasingly being looked at. As a maritime-related company, we use Thordon in rudder and propeller shaft bearings and deck equipment. Also during ship construction and in the pump industry, more and more people are looking at possibilities of water lubrication with environmentally friendly bearings, of course while maintaining long service lives." Needless to say, the experts at Sandfirden Technics do not run away from adjustments that need to be made to serve customers. Bakker concludes, "We offer what the market demands."
