The power of integral collaboration in the water industry

Integral projects require a well-oiled collaboration. By speaking the same language, implementing processes in the same way, coming to the same decisions in the same way, and thinking and working in the same way, you can offer real added value in a project. And only then can you come up with solutions to problems that the customer might not even have thought of, or vice versa. This is now also seen in the water industry!

"As a civil contractor, TBI company Mobilis provides solutions for issues in the fields of infrastructure, water and industry. Entering into sustainable and transparent relationships with clients and cooperating parties is central to this," begins Ferry de Bruin, Manager Industry, Energy & Water at Mobilis. "Due to the tightening of the European Water Framework Directive and the associated modifications and/or new construction of assets, we see more and more companies in the water management sector changing course. They are starting to work with long-term framework contracts, where integral cooperation, sustainability, safety and innovation are important components."

Unique in the water board world
"Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg (WBL), for example, entered into a four/six-year partnership with us to take on an arsenal of projects in a Bouwteam context and execute them as efficiently as possible," Ferry continued. "Mobilis has always been active in the construction of (then conventional) sewage treatment plants. The tendency is that after about 30 years these start to age and need to be adapted. Meanwhile, technologies have evolved and energy transition has also found its way within this part of the market. Because all disciplines are present with us, we are able to offer complete relief from these types of projects through integral cooperation."

Weert WWTP: special cooperation within one close-knit Construction Team
"At the RWZI in Weert, Croonwolter&dros and Mobilis, together with partners Tauw, RWB and WBL, are working on the project as a close-knit Construction Team with one language and one working method. By contributing knowledge and expertise at an early stage in the project, maximum social value is created. Even during the design, the Construction Team bears joint responsibility. You think about manufacturability, anticipate challenges, offer solutions and thus reduce failure costs. By working more efficiently, you also reduce lead times. The focus is really on project construction. You just see that everyone enjoys their work more, which is so incredibly important within a good collaboration!"

Innovative, modular and sustainable: Verdygo
Cooperation and knowledge sharing often leads to innovation. For example, Waterschapsbedrijf Limburg developed a new design and construction technique for a modular and sustainable sewage treatment plant: Verdygo. This is also applied at the Weert WWTP, among other places. The basic principles are to treat sewage water to size, at the lowest possible cost and at the same time be able to respond flexibly to technological, demographic or climatic developments. Due to the modular way of designing and building using existing and new technologies, the costs have been reduced and the construction time shortened. Another special feature is that by building above ground, modular and standardized, annual savings can also be achieved on maintenance.

Trade show Aqua Netherlands
"We as Mobilis are successful in our cooperation with water boards. Of course that's why we can also be found at the leading event for the national water industry: Aqua Nederland. We are here together with TBI company Croonwolter&dros. We want to show that, among other things, we generate the infrastructure at RWZI's and build custom-made solutions for each treatment plant according to the customer's wishes. Thanks to our expertise, we advise the technically most economical solution for each type of project," Ferry concludes.
