Ship forwarder builds warehouse in port of Rotterdam

Multifunctional and high quality

Ritmeester, a well-known logistics player in shipping supplies, moved to new premises in Rotterdam's Waalhaven last year. This new headquarters, erected by Willy Naessens Netherlands, reflects Ritmeester's growth and their continuous search for the most efficient logistics processes.

Ritmeester is a specialist in ship supply.

Ritmeester is known for its European ship supplies. To further expand and optimize their services, the company had a new facility built at the Waalhaven in Rotterdam in August 2022. "We now have a large storage facility. From here we distribute worldwide and also keep stock. Even of hazardous materials: that makes us unique. In addition, the combination of storage, forwarding and transport under one roof is a service that clients really like," says founder and director Robert-Jan Keijzers.

The new building had specific requirements, Robert-Jan explains. Because of the hazardous materials, for example, the construction had to meet the PGS15 standard. As a result, Ritmeester quickly ended up with industrial builder Willy Naessens Nederland. "For us, it was the combo of our specific demand and Willy Naessens' customer focus that made us choose them."

Most warehouses are built for companies whose core business is also warehousing. But at Ritmeester, several disciplines are intertwined. "We were looking for a solution in which part of the building was equipped for hazardous materials and part was not, and also the availability of a spacious cross-dock was a wish. All these aspects make the warehouse multifunctional and of a very high quality."

Efficient and diverse

The new building was built by Willy Naessens Netherlands. Ritmeester and Willy Naessens immediately had a click. Robert-Jan: "They took us through the possibilities. We went through our process step by step. That's partnership." The property will have a water connection in the next few years, Robert-Jan says. "Then we will be able to supply ships via both the quay and the water. That will make us even more diverse and also very efficient." For the realization of the water connection, the company plans to join hands again with Willy Naessens.
