Unique approach to air purification

Air cleaning in real time, according to the specific need in the warehouse

With the trend toward maximum insulation of warehouses as well, the need for air purification grew. However, an incorrectly chosen installation can increase energy costs significantly. Under the motto "to measure is to know", Euromate approaches the problem in a unique way. Sensors at strategically selected locations calculate the capacity and need for purified air at all times. At the same time, they control the air purifiers individually and calculate when the filters need replacing. The result? An optimal working climate at minimal energy costs.

Until a few years ago, warehouses were often simple sheds that were not exactly top of the class in terms of wind tightness. "The advantage was that all those gaps provided natural ventilation," explains Sjoerd Gersonius of Euromate. "This changed when more and more warehouses were built sustainably with far-reaching insulation to reduce energy bills. The polluted indoor air remained there, which did have consequences. Thanks to COVID-19, a bell started ringing for everyone."

"Yet air cleaning in warehouses not only necessary for a healthy working environment. Today, ventilation capacity is still too often calculated for the employees present, resulting in barely 2 to 5% of air changes per hour. This is insufficient in a lot of warehouses, especially in environments where boxes are moved or torn open for repacking. Or warehouses where forklifts are driven around a lot. After all, a significant amount of dust and dirt particles are produced there. Not only are these unhealthy, but they also settle on the shipments, leaving recipients with dirty hands when unpacking. With products such as clothing, electronics, food ... this is certainly not pleasant. It even causes additional handling and thus costs. So efficiently cleaning the indoor air is certainly not an unnecessary luxury."

Monitoring for minimal consumption

Of course, warehouses can opt for traditional air treatment, but there is a simpler, more energy-efficient, cheaper and more effective alternative: the air cleaning from Euromate. "Our units do not require a duct system or units on the roof," Sjoerd explains. "They are compact units that can be easily attached to the ceiling or wall in strategic locations. In this way, the investment is five to seven times less than a conventional air treatment system."

"In addition, we ensure that energy consumption does not increase during operation. This is done in several areas. First and foremost, air quality is continuously monitored. Specifically, we place measuring equipment in the most crucial places, such as the loading and unloading docks, the mezzanine where many human operations take place... These sensors control the air cleaning units in real time. They make the units run more or less according to the need - read: the number and size of dust and dirt particles. If no activity is registered, in most cases they will even turn off the units."

Even more benefits

An added bonus is that the equipment itself is continuously monitored for both operation and efficiency. "From the moment 80% of the filters have been used, consumption increases very quickly. We can also intervene quickly with our own mechanics in case of breakdowns or irregularities. This is so in the Benelux countries and Germany. In other countries where we operate - there are now more than fifty worldwide - we entrust this to partners."

"Importantly, our systems purify the air without drawing cold or hot outside air into the building. Moreover, they are modular, which makes them tremendously easy to adapt to growing, shrinking or changing activity. By the way, at the end of this year we are launching a new range specifically designed for warehouses and distribution centers."
