Fill it: The Airbnb for warehouse spaces

Why is it that SMEs are constantly looking for affordable storage space, while an estimated 20% of storage capacity within companies remains underutilized? This question stuck with us, three student entrepreneurs at Vlerick Business School, during an investigation into inefficiencies within logistics.

Now what if this unused capacity could be brought into view and companies connected to each other? Then a dynamic, flexible network of storage options is created that benefits both tenants and landlords. This is where we push our platform forward: Fill it.

Warehouse-sharing as a win-win model

With our platform, we want to create a marketplace where unused warehouse space can be rented and leased, similar to Airbnb. By connecting companies from different sectors, we make flexible storage accessible at a fraction of the normal cost. Landlords offer space on their terms through our platform, allowing tenants to come to us for both temporary and long-term storage needs.

Warehouse-sharing thus makes warehouse space more accessible and cheaper for tenants, while landlords benefit from a new source of income. At the same time, bringing companies together also reduces their carbon footprint, optimizes existing infrastructure and stimulates the local economy. Our flexible structure allows us to scale up or down quickly. For example, we can respond to seasonal peaks, making long-term commitments a thing of the past. Win-win, in other words.

Let's put the puzzle together

It is remarkable that in Belgium and the Netherlands, some of the most densely populated countries in the world, there is so little warehouse space sharing. Indeed, companies can fill their warehousing needs more effectively, but to do so they must know how to find each other.

Fill it breaks through this void and ensures that we can make full use of our geographic assets.
