Milence, the joint venture between Daimler Truck, the TRATON GROUP and Volvo Group, presents its large-scale European charging network with seventy strategically located hubs and more than 570 high-performance charging stations at IAA Transportation. IAA is the leading international platform for logistics, commercial vehicles, buses and the transportation sector in general. The hubs are in various stages of development and are expected to open in 2025. This makes the network the largest public charging network for electric trucks in Europe to date, spanning 10 key markets: The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom and Poland. Three hubs are already operational in the Netherlands, France and Belgium. In October, hubs will open in Sweden and Germany. The hub in Port of Antwerp-Bruges in Belgium is one of the largest public loading hubs in Europe with 20 loading bays.
More than 30% of European road transport takes place in Germany, making it one of Milence's most important markets. The Hermsdorfer Kreuz hub will be the first to open in Germany. Together with 24 more hubs, Milence's current network enables electric road transport in Germany, the country with the highest road truck density in Europe. Vockerode, Himmelkron, Hüttenberg, Kirchberg an der Jagst, Kassel Lohfelden and Recklinghausen are the next to become operational.
The development of Milence's public charging network will electrify some of Europe's busiest routes such as Antwerp-Duisburg, Gothenburg-Malmö, Paris-Le Havre and Berlin-Munich. With these routes presented at IAA, logistics companies can better plan their transition to electrification.
Under the motto 'Charging trucks and drivers for sustainable road transportation' shows Milence the concept of its charging hub, including the latest megawatt charging solution from Power Electronics. The advanced technolgy, with a charging capacity of up to 1.44MW (1,500A @960V) and tested with real vehicles delivering 1MW+, will be rolled out at five of Milence's hubs in the coming months.
The Megawatt Charging System (MCS) is the newly defined standard for high-power charging and is designed to meet the needs of the growing electric truck market. The solution will dramatically reduce charging time, making electric trucks more practical and efficient for long-distance transportation. This is because batteries charge from 10% to 80% in about thirty minutes, thanks to the 1,440 kW (1,500 A, 1,000 V) output. Milence's innovative approach goes beyond vehicles - in addition, they also focus on improving driver well-being during rest periods by providing safe and accessible charging hubs.
"The future of road transportation is electric. We are proud to lead the way with our fast-growing charging network and show that this can already be a reality today. This is the time to act, and we are calling on all stakeholders to prioritize infrastructure. By accelerating technological progress and electrifying Europe's major transportation routes, we are making it easier for fleets to switch to zero-emission trucks. Our mission is not only to power trucks, but also to support drivers. They can rest in a safe environment while contributing to a more sustainable future for road transport.", says Anja van Niersen, CEO at Milence.
Visitors to Milence's booth in Hall 12 can also participate in workshops organized with key partners Milence is working with to further drive this transition.
