Whitepaper: 5 pieces of advice for a more efficient warehouse and material handling system

"How can I efficiently store and transport as many goods as possible in the space available?

If you are a warehouse manager, this question is probably familiar to you. Maximum efficiency is becoming increasingly important: delivery times have to be shortened, competition is coming from further and further afield, and raw material and production prices are rising by the day. You don't have everything under control, but fortunately there is quite a lot you can do to position yourself competitively in the market.

Really utilize every meter of your warehouse

First, it's important that your products are stored as efficiently as possible, starting with a warehouse layout tailored to your application. By installing the most cost-effective layout for you, you can move your goods easily and quickly, accurately track your inventory, as well as maximize the use of your warehouse space.

To find out whether it's best to choose pallet racking, drive-in racking or big box racking, answer a few questions. What are the dimensions of your available space? Do you want to store and transport a large quantity of similar goods, or are your goods just hugely diverse? Exactly how much do these goods weigh? And are there other aspects to consider?

Don't hesitate to seek external help, and work with a consultant to see what solution will ensure that you truly utilize every meter of your warehouse.

Move your goods quickly and safely from A to B

The next step is just as important: choosing the appropriate material handling equipment. Some warehouse trucks excel at fast transport at ground level, while others ensure that you maximize your space even vertically.

For example, do you have narrow aisles and very high racking? Then make narrow-aisle trucks your processes a lot more efficiently. With lift heights of up to 18 meters, an ergonomic design, different types of safety systems and as many as 10 million configurations, a narrow-aisle truck takes your logistics processes literally and figuratively to a higher level.

Another category of warehouse trucks for work at great heights, is the category of the reach trucks. They are ideal for a wide range of logistics tasks, such as moving goods quickly and precisely in tight and high spaces. The latest heavy duty masts for reach trucks offer drivers an even better view of their surroundings, and allow them to safely move pallets at working heights of up to 15 meters.

However, if you work primarily in the lower areas of your warehouse, you can count on transpallets, stackers, order pickers or industrial tractors. And if you want to free your staff from repetitive work, or employ additional "workers" in the process, you can think of (semi-)autonomous warehouse trucks. These AGVs not only contribute to more safety in the workplace; by taking over repetitive processes, they also reduce absenteeism.
