Companies are looking for a single point of contact that understands how their operation works, according to Easy Systems.

Partner instead of supplier

Answer what customers really need today

Easy Systems started as a conveyor supplier and grew into an independent integrator for managing both the mechanical and software parts of internal logistics projects. This evolution - from individual conveyors to integrated projects, from products to solutions, from supplier to partner - is not accidental. It is a response to what the company believes customers really need today: a single point of contact that understands how their operation works, and doesn't outsource any part of the solution.

It is mainly smaller- and medium-sized operations that face major challenges, such as adding more flexibility in processes. For less wealthy companies, the choice is even more important. David Taverniers, founder of Easy Systems: “Such as family businesses or entrepreneurs who don't have the luxury of immediately deploying the solutions for another customer when they lose a customer.”

Investment decisions involve a combination of potentially many types of technology.

Advice on decision making

For these companies, it comes down to making the right choice, and in many cases that requires advice, Taverniers says. “A decision is no longer about just a conveyor, but a combination of potentially many types of technology. Think of conveyors with pushers and weigh units, lines with integrated scanners, label and print units, box folders and closers to automated warehouses, palletizers and AMRs. Things that also need to work seamlessly with each other.”

‘Understanding what the customer wants and needs’

Taverniers: “We need to understand what the customer needs and wants. Only then does a solution have an effect and can it contribute to achieving a company's growth objectives, for example. The choice a smaller or medium-sized company makes is often one for the somewhat longer term. Scalability plays a key role here.”

Some form of automation or combination of solutions is central to many projects. “If sufficient funds are not immediately available for a complete transition, it is wise to take an overall view. Then the entrepreneur can take step one first, with the certainty that the addition at a later time of additional systems will lead to proper integration. This creates a process that is flexible enough to, for example, handle packages for a pharma or feed customer with the same format and destination yet very differently. For the simple reasons that various sectors have different needs.”

Mechanical and software: two hands in one

What sets Easy Systems apart from an ordinary conveyor supplier is the combination of mechanical expertise and software control. Taverniers gives an example: “Take a sorting installation where packages are placed on a conveyor belt, weighed and scanned. At that point, the system communicates with the customer's upper ERP with questions such as ‘Is the weight correct?’ and ‘Which exit should this parcel go to? That communication, between the mechanical and software parts, is exactly where projects succeed or fail.’ Easy Systems used to rely on outside software companies for that part of the solution. Today, it does so in partnership with BOA Concept, software partner and sister company, which has the entire software control and WCS integration in-house.

Systems themselves communicate with the customer's parent ERP with questions such as ‘Is the weight correct?’ and ‘Which exit should this package go to?.

Scalable future-proof solutions

In Taverniers“ 30 years in logistics, he has seen the industry change significantly. ”Now it's robots combined with order picking, AI and conveyortech. But actually everything can be combined if there is a good plan behind it. We really like to help customers with scalable and future-proof solutions. We are also good at that, which is what we get back from customers."
