‘There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution’

The Strength of Three Divisions

Logistics operations require specific solutions, such as those designed to improve efficiency, reduce walking distances, and promote ergonomic work practices. Vanas Engineering addresses these market needs through its three divisions, each of which has its own area of expertise. Managing Director Andy Van Mieghem: “We can deploy Automation, Modula, and Static Solutions independently, but these divisions also work closely together when necessary.”

Vanas Engineering’s three divisions make the company capable of integrating logistics systems in a variety of ways—from adding a single machine, such as a Modula platform lift, to all kinds of automation and conveyor systems. Van Mieghem: “Since Modula’s acquisition of Vanas in 2024, we’ve gained more options. This opens up opportunities to combine all kinds of activities, but at the same time, we want to clearly demonstrate that our three divisions can also tackle individual challenges on their own. We’ll be demonstrating that this fall at Logistica Next.”

Two booths at Logistica Next

The approach Vanas Engineering is taking at Logistica Next 2026 aligns seamlessly with the company’s positioning. “At the previous edition, we had one booth; now we have two with an aisle between them. One booth is entirely focused on Modula solutions, while the other is entirely dedicated to Vanas automation with conveyors and roller conveyors.”

The split at Logistica Next gives Vanas the opportunity to put both solutions and products in the spotlight. “At the Modula booth, we’ll be demonstrating two machines live. We’ll also be showcasing a smart feature of the platform lift: the double-tray system.”.

The advantage of this system is that while one operator is working on one tray, the system is already retrieving the next one. That in itself isn’t unique, but by building a small extension in front of the lift, the changeover time is reduced from, say, sixteen seconds to three seconds. ”Operators simply spend much less time waiting.“ Vanas also demonstrates the Modula Flexibox. ”This bin storage system retrieves up to nine bins on a tray—exactly the items the operator needs. That speeds up the operator’s work. If you set up two of these machines, operators can really achieve high productivity.”

Responding to PPWR

At the other booth, Vanas Automation is in the spotlight. “Here, the emphasis is on a project-based approach. We’re also showcasing our own conveyors at this booth, such as 24-volt conveyors, a flexible conveyor, and a continuous lift. We’re also demonstrating end-of-line solutions, such as packaging systems for shipments.” With these solutions, Vanas is responding, among other things, to the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). “We expect this to receive a lot of attention through 2030.”

Finally, at Logistica Next, Vanas will highlight the combination of storage and picking, using, for example, Modula lifts and conveyors. “These solutions come together in a picking station, for example. Operators no longer have to lug around bins; instead, the bins are transported automatically and arrive exactly where they’re needed. This allows us to showcase our engineering expertise. Still, every project remains unique; there’s no one-size-fits-all solution.” For Van Mieghem, one of the most rewarding aspects of the job is developing a customized solution for each client. “Although scalability is key, the end result doesn’t always have to be expensive.”
