Droppr Network digitizes collaboration between transportation companies and their subcontractors

Droppr is not Lennert Moens and Sanjay Aerts’ first venture. In September 2025, they launched Droppr Shipping, a digital platform that matches available cargo space from carriers with specific shipments. With Droppr Network, they are now taking the next step. The new platform helps carriers digitally manage, monitor, and further expand their network of subcontractors and transport partners. Their goal? To grow into a reliable and compliant transport network in Europe.

Transportation companies do not handle all their trips on their own. They work with regular subcontractors, occasional partners, and other carriers to provide additional capacity or geographic coverage. Yet even today, these relationships are often managed using Excel spreadsheets, email inboxes, and loose documents.

“Transport companies sometimes have dozens or even hundreds of subcontractors,” says Lennert Moens. “Documents, permits, insurance policies, and contracts must be collected from and tracked for each partner. This can become a significant administrative burden.”

“With Droppr Network, we want to centralize that process. A transportation company can invite its existing subcontractors to the platform and then use a single interface to track which data and documents are available, missing, or need to be updated.”

From onboarding to compliance

A key pillar of Droppr Network is the onboarding and compliance of transportation partners.

“When a new subcontractor starts, it often triggers a cumbersome administrative process,” explains Sanjay Aerts. “Documents are requested, checked, and stored somewhere. A few months later, a permit or insurance policy expires, and someone has to manually follow up on that again.”

“With Droppr Network, we automate a large part of that process. Documents can be collected and verified centrally, while our platform alerts us when information is missing or has expired. Droppr is also working on automated checks and integrations with external data sources.”.

“Compliance shouldn’t be a one-time event,” says Moens. “As a client, you want to know at all times whether the companies you work with are still meeting the requirements.”

Your own network remains secure

A key principle is that transportation companies can manage their existing network within Droppr without making it public.

“A carrier has often spent years building strong relationships with subcontractors,” says Moens. “We want to digitize and strengthen those relationships, not open them up to just anyone. A customer’s own network therefore remains private. At the same time, Droppr Network goes beyond simply managing existing partners. Transportation companies looking for additional capacity can also find new carriers through our broader Droppr network.”

Technology should reduce administrative work

Above all, technology should take the work off our hands. That’s why Droppr is working on integrations with existing TMS and ERP systems, so that information doesn’t have to be entered over and over again.

“We don’t want to create another software silo,” said Moens. “A transportation planner or subcontractor manager shouldn’t have to use yet another system where they have to re-enter everything. Through API connections, we want Droppr to communicate as much as possible with the systems companies are already using today. In addition, we use AI to automatically recognize documents and verify data. As a result, employees mainly need to step in only when something is missing or incorrect.”

First building block

Droppr Network builds on the experience that Moens and Aerts gained with Droppr Shipping. That platform launched commercially in September 2025 and now has approximately 400 shippers and 120 carriers.

Via Shipping, smaller shipments are matched with carriers who are already heading in the right direction and still have available cargo space.

“That’s when we realized just how great the need for collaboration among transportation companies really is,” says Aerts. “Efficiently matching a shipment is one thing. But behind that, there’s always the question: Which carrier do you work with? Is that company reliable, and does it have the proper documentation?”

Droppr now wants to digitize precisely that layer using Network.

Toward a European Transportation Network

Over time, Droppr Shipping and Droppr Network should reinforce each other. A transportation company can use Network to manage its existing partners and find new ones, while Shipping allows available capacity to be effectively matched with shipments.

“The transportation sector consists of thousands of companies that work together every day, but digitally, those relationships are still highly fragmented,” Moens concludes. “We want to build the infrastructure that will enable those companies to collaborate more easily, securely, and efficiently.”

For Aerts, the goal is clear: “With Droppr, we want to create Europe’s largest transportation network, where transportation companies can find each other, onboard and verify one another, and then collaborate effectively.”
