Collaboration around e-mobility grows into distribution and own service facilities
New Green Wheel has quickly become the exclusive distributor of GEWISS' e-mobility solutions and is expanding that role with the establishment of its own showroom and service center. The move follows a collaboration that originated from practice and evolved into a broader and more strategic market role, says Ronald Vos, co-owner of New Green Wheel.

The collaboration dates back to 2021 and began from the installation branch, with a specific request around the commissioning of fast chargers. New Green Wheel was approached to configure systems and troubleshoot failures. “That requires specific knowledge and training. That's why we started discussions with Gewiss and visited the factory in Italy. What we saw there gave us confidence to expand the cooperation,” Vos said. This happened in the following period and now results in an exclusive distributorship for e-mobility.
According to Vos, the added value of the Gewiss solutions lies in the modularity and flexibility in power, while the added value of his own organization lies precisely in the overall approach. “We look at usage: how many vehicles there are, how many movements they make and what power is available. Based on that, we calculate scenarios and determine what is most efficient.” This includes factors such as solar panels and energy storage.

For logistics applications, he says, this approach is necessary. “The biggest challenge is almost always available power. Grid congestion is a determining factor in many locations. So you have to be smart about what is available.” The modular structure of the Gewiss DC chargers plays a role in this. “The power is made up of blocks that you can stack. This allows you to put together a solution that fits within the limits of the connection.”
The choice between AC and DC charging depends on the usage profile. “AC charging is suitable when vehicles are stationary for long periods of time. Fast charging becomes relevant as soon as vehicles need to be deployable again quickly.” In practice, this often leads to a combination of both. “No two logistics situations are the same. It's always a trade-off between investment, utilization and available capacity. This is precisely why thorough customization is so important: if you properly calculate all relevant factors, the payback period of the investment turns out to be surprisingly favorable in many cases.”
With the role as a distributor, the company's position is also shifting. In addition to the chargers, the New Green Wheel also supplies the associated components and supports installers in implementation. A service center with warehouse, workshop, showroom and training facilities is under construction in Enschede. “There, installers and clients can see the systems in practice and work with them. We also train partners so that we can offer service and support nationwide,” Vos says.

He says the demand for charging infrastructure in logistics will continue to grow. “Electrification is continuing, partly due to regulations and climate targets. This means that companies need to start thinking now about how they set up their charging facilities. Thanks to our partnership with Gewiss, we can advise, support and relieve them of this even better.”
