At Coldo’s new frozen-food warehouse in Kuurne, everything revolves around efficiency. Not just inside the warehouse, but outside as well. Due to a lack of parking space, a less obvious solution was chosen: parking on the roof. Atelier Dumon developed an industrial car lift for this purpose that seamlessly combines mobility and logistics.
The client’s request to the Bruges-based family business was clear: design and install a reliable, smooth-running elevator that quickly transports cars to the roof level. “In a logistics environment, every second counts,” says co-manager Thomas Dumon. “So we had to develop a system that is not only powerful but also intuitive for both employees and visitors.”
“Our elevator, with a lifting capacity of 4.4 metric tons, can easily transport multiple passengers and heavy vehicles. Thanks to a speed of 47 centimeters per second, smooth traffic flow is guaranteed.”
Unlike traditional car lifts, which often use a transmitter as a remote control, Atelier Dumon opted for an automated system here. Thomas Dumon: “Detection loops and radar control ensure that vehicles are automatically recognized and guided. This lowers the barrier to entry for occasional users and increases operational efficiency. The lift’s generous dimensions—6.5 meters long and 3.50 meters wide—also play a role. Larger vehicles and less experienced drivers can maneuver without any problems, which reduces wait times and minimizes risks.”
Atelier Dumon combines its expertise in internal transport systems with hydraulic lift technology. As a family-owned business with its own manufacturing facilities, it can respond quickly to specific needs. Furthermore, its focus on in-house installations ensures a high level of service and minimal downtime.
“That’s crucial for logistics companies like Coldo,” Dumon concludes. “After all, any disruption in the warehouse has a direct impact on efficiency. With our car lift, we’re proving that supporting infrastructure also plays a key role in high-performance warehouse environments.”
