Nooteboom semi low loader with hydraulic widening

The latest addition to the Nooteboom range is the OSD-73-04 semi low loader with hydraulic widening for the European market. This semi low-loader is specially designed for transporting machines weighing up to about 47 tons. Even tracked excavators with a track width of up to 2,900mm and with a track length of at least 5,000mm can be transported efficiently and safely with it.

Robust design, great ease of operation, simple design with minimum moving parts are key features of this latest OSD-73-04(S) semi low loader. The 4-axle trailer is available with extendable loading floor and has two trailing steered axles.

Infinitely adjustable load floor extension

Within the international exceptional transport market, there is a growing interest in hydraulic widening on a semi low-loader. With the new OSD-73-04(S), the loading area can be widened quickly and easily from 2,540mm to 3,210mm. This saves time and effort, is optimally ergonomic and results in higher efficiency. At the push of a button, the width of the loading surface can be infinitely adjusted, with the left and right sides being separately adjustable. For extra grip, the sliding parts are rubberized as standard. The empty weight of the semi-trailer with hydraulic widening is hardly more than a semi-trailer with manual loading surface widening.

Interior dimension

With the widening retracted, the vehicle remains within the legal dimensions of 2,550mm width and may also carry divisible cargo. With the widening fully extended, the same trailer is suitable for transporting large excavators. The step from 2,540mm to 3,210mm wide is not realizable with manual widening. So in this case you start with a semi-trailer with a width of 2,720mm to get to 3240 with widening. The big disadvantage is that you cannot then carry a divisible load. A 2,520mm wide semi-trailer with manual widening will not get beyond a width of 3,020mm. So the semi-trailer with hydraulic widening has the advantages of both worlds.

Safe loading and unloading

For the safe and efficient loading and unloading of machines, the semi-trailer is equipped with automatic hydraulic unfolding ramps four meters in length. These are suitable for a maximum wheel load of 15 tons per ramp. With a ramp angle of only 11 degrees, machines can be easily driven off and onto the semi-trailer. The steel ramps are fitted with wooden sections. At the rear, the vehicle is standard equipped with folding support legs for safely driving machines on and off. Hydraulic support legs are optional. These are infinitely adjustable independently on the left and right and are ideal for uneven surfaces.

More than 20 new vehicles have already been ordered and largely delivered, particularly in the United Kingdom. For now, the hydraulic widening is available for the 4-axle semi-trailer with extendable loading floor, type OSD-73-04V(S).
