Top quality in landscaping and landscape management

Many homeowners have their garden designed and constructed by a landscaper or landscape architect. Individual construction elements in the garden that are not standard as well as high-quality materials are required for this. This can only be achieved economically if the executing company also does excellent work and has the right machinery.

Someone who values top quality is landscape architect Tobias Grabandt and his team. The 5-person company from Staufenberg in Lower Saxony, Germany, also pays attention to quality and reliability when purchasing construction equipment. Tobias Grabandt: "The work in landscaping and gardening is physically tiring. We therefore take advantage of any opportunity or machine that makes the work easier for us. A good example is the VPR vibratory plate with rollers from WEBER MT." Grabandt uses the vibratory plate with rollers for vibrating off terraces of large format natural stone tiles or tiles with a certain top layer.

High performance requirements

The construction of an approximately 50-square-meter terrace near Kassel took place as part of a comprehensive garden project. For the homeowners, the use of regional building materials was especially important. Therefore, 3 cm thick, calibrated tiles of different sizes made of Weser sandstone were chosen. Laid in loose soil on 4 cm split 2/5 and grouted with a mixture of crushed sand 1/3, the terrace becomes the perfect location for cozy summer evenings.

However, the building material from the Weserbergland region places high demands on the execution of the construction. "We used to tap such tiles in by hand with a rubber mallet," said Grabandt. "Despite great care, tiles kept breaking and had to be replaced - at least 5 or 6 of them would have had to be replaced on this surface. Moreover, the tiles are so sensitive that the hammer would leave imprints. Apart from the fact that we have to calculate a whole day's work of a man for manual laying in this surface, it is also really hard work."

At least 50% savings in total laying time

The use of WEBER MT's VPR 700 roller vibrating plates brought the desired ease of work for the Grabandt team. Using the vibratory plate with rollers, the time for laying a day could be reduced to just 20 minutes. Cracks in the tiles are also prevented by the careful and even trimming. Provided that substructure and sand bed are laid evenly and in accordance with regulations. "All in all, wherever we can use the vibratory plate with rollers, we save at least 50 % on the total laying time. In addition, the device makes the physical work significantly easier for me and my team," summarizes landscape architect Grabandt.
