About the same time, Engcon indicated that it had taken this new opportunity to expand its control system DC2 with eML, engcon Machine Link. A kind of Plug & Play solution for Engcon turntables with the proportional DC2 control system. The first Volvo models equipped with this technology are the latest versions of the EC250E and E300E.
Swedish Volvo dealer Swecon has now mounted an Engcon on the world's first Smart Connect excavator, an EC250E ordered by Swedish company Tingsholmens Entrepenad. This machine was equipped with the safe Q-Safe automatic quick-change system, an EC226 slewing tilt and EC-Oil.
"Our fleet has five excavators, four of which have Engcon rotary tilters and the fifth, with another brand of tiltrotator, is now being replaced by the new EC250 with also an Engcon," says Elias Svensson, co-owner at Tingsholmens Entreprenad.
Elias says that he and his cousin and co-owner John Svensson have had good experiences with Engcon and therefore the choice of the type of swivel tilt attachment to the new EC250 was quite easy.
"In terms of operational reliability, an Engcon is the Rolls Royce among turntables. We did try other brands, but we didn't like them in the end, so now we are replacing our only machine that doesn't have an Engcon."
Installation of Elias' new EC250E has now been completed at Swecon in the Swedish city of Jönköping, and Elias was there when the machine drove out of the workshop.
"The machine looks stunning," he says as he looks at the acquisition. Standing before him is his shiny, brand-new Volvo EC250E with Engcon automatic quick coupler, rotary tilt, machine control from Leica Geosystems, central lubrication, etc.
Now a large project awaits us in the Swedish town of Habo, where the new 250 will be used in the construction of terraces in the grounds and the associated water drainage.
"Of course, a new machine is always fun, but this time it will be extra fun to get started," concludes Elias Svensson.
