Those who have their warehouse racking manufactured close to home benefit from short communication channels, fast delivery times, and solutions that are better suited to real-world conditions. Especially in a warehouse, where space, safety, and operational continuity determine day-to-day operations, that difference can be significant. Nimar Storage Solutions, based in Raamsdonksveer, manufactures all of its warehouse racking systems entirely in its own factory.
Managing Director Tom Keijzers: “Our in-house production facility offers customers flexibility and greater control over their logistics processes. In addition, we are able to offer a competitively priced product. Furthermore, manufacturing in the Netherlands contributes to sustainability by limiting the number of transport trips.”
“That’s why we’re currently working on a ‘Made in Holland’ label, so that visitors to our end customer’s location can see that it’s produced locally,” Keijzers continues.
Nimar Storage Solutions is part of the Verkolf Group, a family-owned business that has been active in retail and warehouse design for 45 years. Keijzers represents the third generation. That background is evident in the way the company operates. “Our priority is building long-term customer relationships. Personal contact, thinking along with our customers, going the extra mile—direct communication is very important to us. Over the past 45 years, we’ve proven that this approach is successful.”
Because production takes place in Raamsdonksveer, the company can respond quickly and keep lead times short. This applies to new projects, as well as to expansions, damage repairs, and after-sales service. “For example, if a few extra posts or beams are needed, they can simply be incorporated into the production process right away. As a result, the materials are back with the customer quickly, and the logistics operation is disrupted as little as possible.”
That flexibility is also built into the solutions themselves. Nimar supplies, among other things, pallet racks, shuttle racks, shelving units, cantilever racks, and drive-in racks. By combining product groups with custom solutions, the available space in a warehouse can be utilized optimally. “We can deliver exactly what the customer needs and tailor it to their specific situation,” says Keijzers.
In doing so, Nimar looks beyond the racking system alone. A warehouse must also be designed to be safe, logical, and scannable. That’s why the company supplies accessories such as racking labels, scannable location labels, collision protection, floor markings, and warehouse bins. Installation is also carried out by the company’s own team. This creates a single point of contact for the entire project. “The warehouse racking forms the foundation, but customers benefit most from a complete solution. After all, that’s how they can get a functioning process up and running faster,” emphasizes Keijzers.
A key advantage of manufacturing in the Netherlands is the control over materials and quality. The manufacturing process is streamlined and transparent: raw materials enter the facility and leave as finished products. “We know where our materials come from and have full control over incoming materials and outgoing products. By working with regular suppliers, we can ensure consistent quality.”
To ensure that quality, Nimar invests heavily in automation and robotics. Attention is also paid to the details—such as RAL colors that match the customer’s corporate identity. “An entrepreneur takes pride in his business,” says Keijzers. “So how wonderful is it when the warehouse reflects that pride and serves as a calling card when he has customers visit?”
The power of local production is clearly evident in Raamsdonksveer. In the showroom, visitors can see what solutions are available. The discussion can then continue in the adjacent factory, where visitors can see how the racks are manufactured, what machines are used, and how the materials are processed. “Placing an order is quick and easy, but seeing the whole process adds more depth to the order. We’ve noticed that customers appreciate this. It makes the process more tangible for them.”
