From November 4 to 6, 2025, Packsize, market leader in sustainable, Right-sized On Demand Packaging, will have a prominent presence at Logistica Next in the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. There, the company will present its latest solutions for packaging automation, enabling logistics companies to work more efficiently, sustainably and customer-focused. A good time to speak with Ton de Graaf, Sales Director Benelux of Packsize, about recent developments.
"Packsize has been around since 2002 and has distinguished itself from the beginning with an innovative approach to packaging solutions," says De Graaf. "We have been at the forefront of packaging automation for more than 20 years. Some of our systems were the first of their kind. For example, we introduced On Demand Packaging®, which allows companies to produce precisely tailored shipping packages. That has permanently changed the way many industries set up their packaging processes."
Packsize's technology integrates seamlessly with existing manufacturing and fulfillment processes. "Our advanced hardware and software solutions enable companies to perfectly tailor corrugated shipping packaging to each product," continued De Graaf. "Indeed, right sized shipping packaging is crucial in today's logistics market, where consumer expectations for fast yet durable shipping are higher than ever."
One of the most important recent milestones has been the acquisition of Sparck Technologies in Drachten. "Sparck is known for its advanced CVP Impack and CVP Everest systems for making right-sized boxes," explains De Graaf. "By combining their technology and expertise with ours, we can offer customers an unprecedentedly broad portfolio."
According to De Graaf, this is an important strategic move: "Sparck has a strong reputation for innovation, reliability and sustainability. That aligns perfectly with our values. Together we are better able to handle large packaging volumes more efficiently and deliver more sustainable, right-sized packaging solutions to customers around the world. In doing so, we strengthen our global market leadership."
In addition to efficiency, sustainability is a common thread in everything Packsize does. "Our mission is not for nothing: SMART packaging for a healthy planet," De Graaf emphasizes. "We use recyclable corrugated cardboard from responsibly managed renewable resources and use our technology to minimize waste. Boxes that fit precisely reduce cardboard consumption, reduce or eliminate filling material, make processes faster AND minimize the carbon footprint."
The benefits are tangibly measurable. "Our solutions reduce shipping volume by 40 percent on average and save about 20 percent corrugated cardboard. That really makes a difference, especially now that sustainability is higher and higher on the agenda of companies and consumers."
An additional reason why companies should act now is the arrival of the new European regulation PPWR. De Graaf: "This legislation aims to reduce packaging waste and promote sustainability. An important spearhead is reducing shipping volume. Companies that do not adjust their packaging process will soon run into restrictions and higher costs."
Packsize actually sees the legislation as an opportunity. "Our solutions are fully geared to these developments. We can optimize boxes in length, width and height, allowing companies to already meet the stricter requirements now. Those who anticipate the PPWR in time will soon be stronger in the market."
The combination of innovation, sustainability and a broader product portfolio following the acquisition of Sparck makes Packsize ready for the future. "We help companies pack smarter, greener and more efficiently," concludes De Graaf. "At Logistica Next, among other things, we will show on a life-size video wall how our solutions contribute to a healthy planet as well as healthy business operations."
