Linde Material Handling (MH) received another platinum medal from EcoVadis this year. The prestigious award in the sustainability ranking places Linde MH within the top one percent of all companies evaluated by the global assessment agency. The German intralogistics expert made remarkable progress in all four evaluation categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Sourcing.
"When it comes to investing in new material handling, the EcoVadis rankings play an increasingly important role. Especially when bidding for large contracts, companies want to know exactly what the sustainability efforts of their suppliers are," said Nicole Grinko, Sustainability Manager at Linde MH. "The platinum medal is not only an important proof that Linde MH has already achieved a high level of sustainability, but also that we continue to improve with ongoing services and activities." For example, Linde MH has developed a clear roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality in its production facilities in the coming years," said Nicole Grinko.
The EcoVadis rating consists of detailed questions within various individual categories and a 360-degree assessment. Here, the rating agency evaluates a company's publications on sustainability issues worldwide and incorporates them into the rating. All information provided by the company must be supported by appropriate documentation. An example of this is the Fair-ON-Pay+ certificate, which was awarded to Linde MH in Switzerland for its commitment to gender neutrality. This certificate also contributed to an improvement in the EcoVadis score in the Labor & Human Rights category. Another improvement in the Sustainable Sourcing category was achieved by providing specific key performance indicators at the brand level, which were previously only available at the parent company level. Analysts can now track quantitative progress at Linde MH.
The EcoVadis assessment is based largely on Linde MH's sustainability report, which the company first voluntarily produced in 2015 and in which it has been collecting new data on an ongoing basis ever since. The publication includes "Facts and Figures" with details and references to the overarching sustainability strategy of Linde MH and its parent company, the KION Group. Chapters such as Compliance and Responsibility, Good Employment Practice, Health and Safety, Environment, Products and Solutions, Supply Chain Sustainability and Community Involvement offer a comprehensive overview of relevant measures and activities and provide detailed insight into specific aspects of the company's sustainability efforts. The second section of the report, titled "Stories," provides case studies that showcase a range of sustainability initiatives.
