Transportation logistics is a big hit with industry

  • More than 75,000 visitors from more than 120 countries
  • 2,320 exhibitors from 67 countries
  • transportation logistics shows thematic leadership

Four exhibition days, packed halls, exhibitors and visitors from around the world and a dynamic industry that is still on the rise - from May 9 to 12, 2023, transport logistics and integrated air cargo Europe were once again the center of the logistics industry. A total of 2,320 exhibitors from 67 countries (2019: 2,374 exhibitors from 63 countries) and more than 75,000 visitors from more than 120 countries (2019: 63,893 visitors from 125 countries) came to the international industry trade fair for logistics, mobility, IT and supply chain management at the exhibition center in Munich. The proportion of international visitors rose to more than 50 percent and was thus higher than ever.

For Messe München co-CEOs, Stefan Rummel and Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, transport logistics illustrated very clearly that "the industry offers great inspiration in these challenging times. People want to get things moving, move forward, tackle current problems together. What we have seen and experienced here over the past four days in terms of ideas and technologies is truly unique. In short: without logistics, nothing happens." Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Dr. Volker Wissing was also impressed by the opening of transport logistics: "What you see here shows once again that the transport and logistics industry is at the very top when it comes to innovations, progress and modern technologies. And what becomes especially clear at this fair is that climate goals are not just fine words, but that the industry takes them very seriously. You can see that everywhere you look, at every booth."

Sustainability as one of the top themes

Kühne+Nagel Managing Director Tobias Jerschke can only agree with the minister's assessment: "transport logistics is still the most important leading trade fair in the world, also for us of course. This year I really liked the fact that the theme of sustainability was a common thread throughout the trade fair. This is a strong signal for the whole sector and will help us pay even more attention to this important topic." Alessandro Cacciola, CEO of the Andreas Schmid Group, added: "Messe München succeeds time and again in perfectly capturing the latest trends and developments in the industry. This year I saw sustainability in particular as a strong and positive theme, and transport logistics is therefore a place where the future of logistics is actively being shaped."

Highest number of international exhibitors ever

With a total exhibition space of 127,000 square meters (2019: 125,000 square meters), the ten halls and the rail system in the outdoor area were fully booked. Of the 2,320 exhibitors, 1,390 came from abroad - a record 60 percent share. The top ten exhibitors after Germany included the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, France, Austria, China, Turkey, Spain, Poland and Great Britain.

Transportation logistics makes a "remarkable comeback"

The numbers speak for themselves - after four years, the industry was eagerly looking forward to transport logistic, as also confirmed by Achim Martinka, Vice President at Lufthansa Cargo: "We have been waiting for this event for so long, and it was just so much fun for us to participate in transport logistic in Munich this year. We enjoyed busy but inspiring days in the Bavarian capital, with so many contacts and wonderful impressions." And Burkhard Eling, CEO at DACHSER, sums it up: "transport logistic has made a remarkable comeback as a meeting place and communication platform and confirms its status as the world's leading trade fair for logistics. The fair is also moving with the times, with important focal points on digitalization, climate protection, global supply chains and people in logistics. In short-transport logistics is a trade fair that companies like DACHSER simply cannot afford to miss."

The next transport logistics will take place from June 2 to 5, 2025, and for the first time from Monday to Thursday.
