Logistics Day Netherlands: 'From AI to hydrogen-powered boating and from robotics to real estate issues'

'We want visitors to go home with practical solutions in addition to valuable contacts'

The ninth Logistics Day Netherlands will take place on February 29, with the main theme "Strengthening chains: building added value together. An event that attracts great interest every year. "We want visitors to go home with practical solutions in addition to valuable contacts. And that every part of the chain is represented. From the logistics service providers to the shipping parties and from policy staff to scientific research institutes," says Cheyenne den Dikkenboer, Congress Development Manager of Management Productions. Together with director Danielle Schonhage, she is organizing the Logistics Day.

"There is room for up to 200 visitors who will have ample opportunity to meet other entrepreneurs, policy makers and managers in logistics. We offer attendees a wide range of practical choice topics, featuring renowned speakers from academic education, industry and government. We really push for speakers to provide best practices. Lessons learned is also a key focus."

If you look at the program, you will indeed see a large number of impressive speakers, including professors and researchers from about six universities. In addition, two deputies from the province of South Holland will be present, as well as the director of the Dutch institute TKI Dinalog. Strategic knowledge and practical experiences will be shared by representatives of leading companies such as Streamliner, NPRC, Dutch Fresh Port, Royal FloraHolland, Intospace, Prologis and the Stec Group. "These are challenging times for shippers, retailers and logistics service providers alike. Starting the conversation together contributes to better insight."

Strengthening value chains

Logistics Day 2024 will take place at the Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland in The Hague and will be opened by Jaap Smit, Commissioner of the King in the province of the same name. "The morning will focus on how to achieve an environmentally friendly supply chain together. How does this work in practice, what are the risks and best practices?"

Interactive meetings lead to connection between different parts of the chain.

For example, Désirée van Gorp, professor of International Business at Nyenrode Business University, will talk about the required shift from cost-oriented thinking to ecosystem thinking. Den Dikkenboer continues: "After the networking lunch, visitors can put together their own afternoon program based on various choice themes."

Multimodality and Smart Mobility

Decongesting the road network is such an important choice topic. Several speakers offer solutions to organize multimodal access as well as possible. These include hydrogen-powered boating, AI for logistics and the Joint Corridors Off-Road program.

"The placement of XXL distribution centers also leads to much discussion in the Netherlands. Therefore, speakers provide answers to questions such as: how do we ensure a good integration and sustainability? What opportunities do smart warehousing and robotics offer? And how do you make these work in practice? And for further depth, after the coffee break one can attend the choice topic Space for Warehousing, where the maximum use of space will be discussed."

AgroVersFood and AI

"The AgroVersFood constitutes a large sector In the Netherlands. Keeping products fresh as well as preventing waste are of great importance here. Logistics are therefore crucial in these chains. We therefore pay ample attention to topics such as smart solutions for fresh transport, footprint reduction and chain cooperation in hubs."

Another choice theme pays attention to a challenging topic on every supply chain manager's agenda: how do you increase the sustainability of your organization? "One gets answers to questions like: how do you go from fictitious to real-time data when measuring the carbon footprint? And how do we calculate scope 3 in our supply chains?"

That capacity within logistics must be optimally utilized to realize chain responsibility is clear. That's why the sixth choice theme focuses on the role that artificial intelligence and smart software plays in this regard. "This selection theme is composed in such a way that visitors discover which digital collaborations are really best practices," concludes Den Dikkenboer.
