A story of growth, acquisitions and sustainable futures

"VM Milktrans and Sovedo Logistics" led by Michiel Verdonck sets sustainable course with purchase of 6 eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks

"VM Milktrans and Sovedo Logistics" led by Michiel Verdonck, with a proud tradition of three generations in milk collection, is proud to announce a new phase with the recent purchase of six eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks. This purchase not only marks an expansion of the fleet but also underscores the company's commitment to sustainable operations and innovation.

What began with 1 vehicle for regional food transportation has since grown through acquisitions into a national transportation company with 33 vehicles. In line with the growing demand for sustainability in the transport sector, some of the company's key partners were actively involved in the sustainability efforts. Indeed, they are open to the installation of charging infrastructure in order to recharge while unloading.

TCO and autonomy as key drivers

After a thorough TCO analysis, the e600 was found to guarantee the lowest TCO going forward compared to the current ICE fleet. Daimler Truck's focus on offering customers not just a product but a total solution is paying off. With the "eConsulting" advisory service, which is part of the comprehensive eTrucks TCO improvement ecosystem, Mercedes-Benz Trucks is already supporting customers in the electrification of their fleets and depots. The focus is on consulting on all aspects of eTrucks, as well as the planning, application and technical implementation of the depot charging infrastructure and grid connection. The sales network is also an important link here. Satisfied with the cooperation with the current sales partner, Michiel Verdonck again chose Van Mossel-Vereenooghe in this more complex story. They worked seamlessly with Daimler Truck's eConsultants to offer the customer a total package for the entry into eMobility. From the rollout of eMobility by Daimler Truck, Van Mossel-Vereenooghe has been fully committed to spreading this story to customers. With this sale, Van Mossel-Vereenooghe confirms its position as an important sales partner of Daimler Truck BeLux.

About the e600

Thanks to the high battery capacity of more than 600 kWh - hence the type designation 600 - and a new, particularly efficient electric drive shaft developed in-house, the eTruck has a range of 500 km 1 without intermediate charging. This means that the eActros 600 can travel more than 1,000 km per day. Interim charging during legally required driver breaks - even without megawatt charging - makes this possible. Some 60 percent of truck customers' long-distance trips in Europe are shorter than 500 km, so the charging infrastructure at the depot and at loading and unloading points is sufficient for this. The vehicle is technically designed for a combined GVW of up to 44 tons. With a standard trailer, the eActros 600 has a payload of about 22 tons in the EU. In some cases, national legislation may allow a higher payload. Optically, the eTruck has a completely new, purist design with clean lines and an aerodynamic shape. In terms of efficiency for fleet operators, the eTruck is expected to create new benchmarks, allowing it to replace most diesel trucks in the important long-haul segment in the long run. The core of Mercedes-Benz Trucks' concept for battery-electric long-distance transportation is to offer customers a holistic transportation solution consisting of vehicle technology, consulting, charging infrastructure and services.
