In a warehouse, the greatest potential for profit often lies in the way goods are stored, processed, and moved. DeBa Pharma, a family-owned business in Kortrijk specializing in high-quality dietary supplements, discovered this as well. Together with Plastibac, this West Flemish company optimized its internal logistics processes using lift storage systems and standardized Euro-norm crates.
DeBa Pharma develops and distributes a wide range of dietary supplements, from vitamins and minerals to probiotics, amino acids, and sports supplements. As the product line continued to expand, inventory levels also grew, putting increasing pressure on available warehouse space.
The central warehouse in Kortrijk used cardboard boxes of various sizes. This made efficient storage difficult and made inventory management less transparent. In addition, the deliveries took up a relatively large amount of space, which meant that available capacity was not being used optimally.
To ensure that its logistics processes are future-proof, DeBa Pharma decided to thoroughly reorganize its warehouse.

A key part of that optimization was the investment in two lift-storage systems. These types of vertical storage systems make maximum use of the available height and automatically bring goods to the operator. This not only creates additional storage capacity but also significantly reduces walking distances.
The advantages of this approach are clear: higher storage density, faster order picking, better ergonomic working conditions for employees, greater control over inventory, and more efficient use of available space.
However, the ultimate performance of such a system is not determined solely by the technology. The choice of storage media also plays a crucial role. This is where Plastibac’s applications came into play.
To organize the shelves in the storage lifts, DeBa Pharma chose Plastibac’s 400×300 mm Euro-standard crates with closed handles.
This approach offers several advantages. By using a single, uniform size, a consistent storage structure is created in which each crate occupies exactly the same space. This allows for optimal use of available space and significantly simplifies warehouse layout.
The closed handles also provide extra protection for the stored products. Small packages cannot protrude or be damaged during internal transport. At the same time, they increase the stability of the crates inside the storage lifts.
The sturdy plastic construction makes the bins suitable for heavy-duty use, while the standardized size ensures smooth handling throughout all logistics processes.

The combination of lift-storage systems and standardized Euro-norm crates quickly yielded tangible results for DeBa Pharma. Employees know exactly where products are located and can pick them faster and more accurately. Searching for items in various types of packaging or boxes is now largely a thing of the past.
The processing of incoming goods is also more efficient. Products are immediately placed in identical crates, creating a uniform storage structure and making the flow of goods easier to manage.
This resulted in significant space savings in the warehouse and a sharp reduction in logistical errors.
Last but not least, Plastibac’s plastic Euro-standard crates also contribute to a more sustainable logistics operation. After all, they are reusable, durable, and designed to last a long time, thereby reducing reliance on single-use cardboard packaging.
