Cost-effective and environmentally conscious light management system
For years, Schréder has been the regular partner for many companies for smart lighting solutions. From now on, they can also turn to this expert in lightability for a customized lighting management system. For this purpose, the company has developed Schréder ITERRA, a wireless control solution that can be used in all industrial environments. Think of shipping zones, loading docks, warehouses and distribution centers. A workshop of the city of Hasselt got the premiere.
Schréder ITERRA offers site managers a robust, cost-effective and future-proof platform to manage their infrastructure. In doing so, they enjoy the utmost flexibility to adapt their lighting to any scenario or activity. Maximum energy savings and the best experience for employees, visitors and managers are at the heart of this.
Everything starts with a good lighting plan that Schréder draws up in consultation with the client. This plan must combine optimum light intensity and energy savings. A choice is then made between planned lighting or control via light or movement sensors. "Each luminaire gets its own identification and is controlled via bluetooth by a sensor or a push button. It is a very powerful bluetooth technology that reaches up to 300 meters and offers a real plug-and-play solution for lighting control," says Area Sales Manager Tom Daniëls.
"This avoids digging for new cabling. All the intelligence is in a small interactive node mounted at the top of the fixture. That is the communication center that receives the emitted signals. Last but not least, customers are welcome to come to us with their fixtures, as long as they meet the appropriate industry standards."
Schréder ITERRA is controlled via an app on tablet or smartphone. "The system features an intuitive interface that users can quickly personalize to the layout and settings of their lighting installation. Through different user rights, administrators can determine access to system functions and lighting scenarios according to the user's profile."
The first industrial project in Flanders where Schréder realized a relighting project with Schréder ITERRA is a site of the technical department of Hasselt. "The site is located between the E313 and the main ring road around Hasselt.
It is part of the Hellebeemden SME zone. All exterior lighting there was converted to LED lighting. In addition to warehouses and workshops, the site includes an employee and visitor parking lot, a mini-recycling park, a car wash, salt silos, outdoor material storage and a Fluvius high-voltage cabin. This variety allows for both sensor and calendar control."
At the entrance to the employee parking lot is a lighting pole with a motion detector. "This system prevents the lights from being on all night, since the first employees don't arrive until 5:30 a.m.," he said. The sensor not only provides lighting in the parking lot, but also creates a walking light between the parking lot and the staff entrance for 15 minutes.
Motion detectors are also provided in theft-prone areas to ensure that the light intensity is strong enough to generate clear camera images. To avoid unnecessary lighting at the salt silos, there is a push button to activate the working lights. By the way, it is never completely dark on the site. There is always basic lighting to discourage attempted theft. This is best compared to full moonlight."
Calendar control is used for those places where workers are continuously active between certain hours. "We program the lighting plan," Tom says, "but the customer himself can make changes to the calendar afterwards or program his own scenarios. It's an open control system operated via an app. To give the customer as much flexibility as possible, we have additional functions to control the lighting. If the app is not usable for a while, fixed control points serve as backup. This can be either wired or wireless. After all, we want to avoid the customer being completely dependent on smartphone or tablet."
