At the 35th edition of the Motor Transport Awards 2021, held in London on Sept. 2, Renault Trucks won the "Technical Excellence Award" prize with its all-electric range (Z.E. range). An independent jury composed of leading figures from the industry rewarded the vehicle manufacturer that has demonstrated the best technical solutions to meet the operational needs of their customers.
The judges noted that the French manufacturer provided insight into the future of sustainable transport for hauliers looking for reliable and proven ways to meet the challenge of zero CO2 emissions. Judges also found it strong that Renault Trucks already has several electric vehicles in operation in the UK.
Carlos Rodrigues, Managing Director Renault Trucks UK & Ireland, accepted the award and said, "Renault Trucks is championing the zero-emission journey for the UK transport sector, so to be recognized with the Motor Transport "Technical Excellence Award" for our all-electric range is hugely exciting . The move to zero carbon solutions is the most significant change in our industry and will benefit society as a whole." He continued: "To recognize Renault Trucks not only for the technical excellence of our Z.E. models, but also our collaborative approach to transformation is very satisfying. We hope that this award will be a springboard for more haulers to move toward a more sustainable future - starting today!"
Renault Trucks' 100% electric range from 3.1 to 26 tons GVW (Master Z.E., D Z.E., D Wide Z.E. and D Wide Z.E. Low Entry Cab) responds to today's urgent need to improve air quality in our cities and reduce noise pollution. From 2023, an all-electric offering from Renault Trucks will be available for all sectors, distribution, construction and long-haul. The French manufacturer has pledged that by the end of 2025 10% of its total sales (vehicles over 12 tons) will be electric, rising to 35% in 2030 and by 2040 all its vehicle ranges will be 100% fossil-free.
