The Super powertrain is the completely new engine platform developed from the ground up by Scania R&D for Euro 6 vehicles, with power ratings from 420 to 560 hp. This was immediately rewarded early this year by winning the 1000-point multi-test organized by the German trade magazine Lastauto Omnibus.
Super offers higher torque and lower rpm, providing even greater driving comfort. The promised improved efficiency is the sum of several components. It starts with the new Scania 13-liter diesel engine and is completed by the Scania Opticruise gearboxes (G25 and G33) and the Scania R756 rear axle. In addition, the versatile chassis offers many more modular options.
To begin with, the new model range for Euro 6 gets four different power levels: 420, 460, 500 and 560 hp. The thermal efficiency of the new engines is around 50%, thanks to the use of high-tech technology, such as double overhead camshafts and Scania Twin SCR AdBlue dosing. The powerful engine management system regulates and controls the powertrain, ensuring the desired economy under all conditions. For environmentally conscious customers, there will also be ex-factory powertrains in the form of hybrid, natural gas or soon all-electric.
Scania has an attractively wide range of trucks and tractors with tailored solutions for every application. From supplying construction sites, through dedicated vehicles for all kinds of municipal services, to the heaviest off-road vehicles and tractors for exceptional transport.
Specifically for construction applications, there is the XT series. The modular design makes it possible to offer a wide variety of combinations of chassis, axles, engines and gearboxes ex-factory. Thus, virtually all axle configurations are possible, from 4×2 to 8×8. Combined with the equally wide equipment package, this makes the XT a commercial vehicle that can handle the toughest jobs.
The basis of the XT package is an extremely robust bumper, which protrudes 150 mm at the front of the cab. Together with the headlight guards, this gives the familiar characteristic appearance, with which the XT exudes strength and robustness. The easily accessible tow bar in the center of the bumper has a capacity of 40 tons.
The Scania XT is excellent for use both on and off the road. Because even off-road, the XT does not avoid an obstacle. This is partly thanks to the sturdy underride guard and the approximately 25-degree angle of the bumper. Of course, this all depends on the version where the chassis and tires are concerned. In addition, various finishing options can be selected for both the interior and exterior.
Scania is also introducing ProCare, a premium service to reduce unplanned stops for mission-critical trucks. Building on Scania's Flexible Maintenance, ProCare offers preventive component renewals to secure expected uptime.
