Loadhog, the employee-owned manufacturer of sustainable reusable packaging solutions, proudly celebrated the grand opening of its new plant in Obernai on Oct. 16, 2025. This is an important milestone in the company's European expansion.
The event welcomed employees, partners, local officials and community members to the new 5,000-square-foot facility on Rue de l'Innovation, a location that perfectly reflects Loadhog's commitment to progressive design and sustainable manufacturing.
Guests enjoyed tours, product presentations and speeches from leaders against the backdrop of the Vosges Mountains.

Michel Barda, director of Loadhog SARL, opened the ceremony by saying, “Today marks an important milestone in the history of our company: the official opening of the Loadhog plant in Obernai. This project is much more than a construction. It is the culmination of a beautiful story of friendship and cooperation with the city of Obernai, and of a strong partnership with our builder, LCR.”
The new plant will serve as a key location for Loadhog's intralogistics product range, including automation containers and trays, while helping to reduce transportation costs and carbon emissions for European customers. It also brings new jobs to the region and introduces specialized manufacturing skills, contributing to the local innovation ecosystem.
Jacques Witkowski, prefect of the Grand-Ouest region, praised the company's alignment with the region's values: “Obernai has become a showcase for an entire innovation ecosystem. Many of the companies located here have made innovation their trademark, and Loadhog is undeniably part of that tradition.”
The plant was built with sustainability in mind, powered by renewable energy and aligned with Operation Clean Sweep®, an initiative aimed at preventing the loss of plastic pellets and protecting the environment.
Shaun Khan, managing director of Loadhog Group, highlighted the company's environmental mission: “As a shareholder, we don't just talk about sustainability: we put it into practice. We use recycled plastic from household and industrial waste, reduce our carbon footprint and provide products that are as eco-friendly as they are intelligent.”
The event was a celebration of the joint achievements of the Loadhog group, with the Sheffield headquarters continuing to support the new site and ensure its smooth integration into the company's wider operations.
