The UFOs (Unit For Observation) marked the start of a European expansion for Kooi.

Guarantee of safe and undisturbed sleep

With temporary innovative mobile camera surveillance systems, construction sites, industrial estates, solar or wind farms and nowadays waste processors and recycling companies are kept from trouble.

Kooi has become big with temporary mobile camera surveillance systems. Those square pillars with a mast in the middle on which one or more integrated camera and detection systems are installed to keep an eye on the surroundings. Whereas ten years ago they were something special, today they have become indispensable. Observe, detect, prevent and take action when necessary. This foursome is inseparable from Kooi's expertise in mobile camera security, the link to analysis by the company's own Kooi Alarm Center (the control center) plus the associated follow-up.

Kooi has its own PAC-certified alarm center, the Kooi Alarm Center. This is where all camera surveillance systems are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This way of working ensures that incoming alarms can always be handled with the highest priority. Customers pay a fixed weekly fee, which includes alarm handling.

European expansion

For Pieter Kooi, the UFOs - which stands for Unit For Observation, or observation installation - turned out to be the start of a European expansion that is still going on. Just last year, for example, the takeover was announced of the German company ArgosGuard, which has Germany and Austria as its working area and fits in well with Kooi in terms of character and products. In addition to its headquarters in Drachten, the company now operates from branches in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Austria.

Innovative solutions

Innovation is indispensable to stay ahead in the future, in Kooi's experience. That is why much of the advanced software necessary for monitoring systems is now being developed in-house. A first result of this was the unique Rising Early Detection (RED) system for (large) waste processors and recycling companies.

In this case, the mobile RED unit - similar to the one we see on construction sites - features a rotating thermometric camera. This constantly records the temperature in the waste storage area. If the temperature rises too quickly and too high, an alarm notification follows to the 24/7 alert Kooi Alarm Center and timely action can be taken to prevent fire.
