Engcon opens branch in South Korea

Leading manufacturer of turntable attachments Engcon continues to expand globally. The most recent location is in South Korea, where the company is launching Engcon Korea Ltd with its own sales and aftermarket personnel and a network of dealers and service partners. The official launch of the company took place during Korea's largest machinery exhibition, attended by both local staff and executives from the Swedish headquarters.

In recent years, Engcon has been putting more and more pins on the world map, and the strategy of setting up its own operations in large parts of Europe, North America and now Asia is giving the company an increasingly broad base. The Korean company Engcon Korea Ltd has offices and its own warehouse in Cheonan. The staff consists of a sales manager, a salesman, warehouse workers and technicians. In addition, Engcon's products are sold through excavator manufacturers Doosan and Hyundai.

"Our goal is to increase sales in markets outside the Nordic region where the market for turntables is becoming saturated and where we can only gain a few percent market share from our competitors," says Krister Blomgren, CEO of the Engcon Group.

Engcon's sales in the past fiscal year were SEK 1.2 billion with an increased profit margin. As for future sales opportunities, Krister Blomgren sees no limitations on how much the company can grow.

"No, we have actually just started our journey outside the Nordic market. According to our projections, within a 10-year period, we will make more sales in the Asian and North American markets than we do in all of Europe. It's dizzying to think about the potential we have," Blomgren continued.

The official launch of Engcon Korea recently took place at Korea's largest machinery exhibition, Conex Korea, where the company had its own booth and also conducted live demonstrations together with Doosan and Hyundai. The booth was staffed by Engcon Korea employees, service partners, reference customers and employees from its headquarters in Sweden.

"It was a fantastic fair, where we were able to complete a number of deals directly and we also got a lot of leads to follow up on. It was also nice to see how well the Korean organization worked," says Krister Blomgren.

A total of about 15,000 people visited the show, and according to Blomgren, most of those visitors seemed curious about Engcon and therefore visited the company's booth.

"It's our ultimate goal to change the world's excavation work, and it seems that Korean contractors and excavators understand that you have to do this with a rotary attachment," says Krister Blomgren.
