BASF introduces innovative waterproofing and concrete protection for wastewater treatment plants and aggressive chemical environments

  • MasterSeal 7000 CR: a system with unique features based on new technology

  • Complete protection in environments with highly aggressive wastewater

  • The service life of concrete structures is significantly extended and downtime reduced

With MasterSeal 7000 CR from Master Builders Solutions, BASF announces an innovative product to protect concrete and steel structures in extreme environments with aggressive wastewater. Based on the company's new XolutecTM technology, this product combines unique application and product properties that make it stand up to environments with aggressive wastewater.

"Our new XolutecTM technology was developed in response to problematic engineering environments. It provides an innovative and smart system that interlaces products to form a network (XPN) that enhances overall material properties," explained Roland Nowicki, Vice President, BASF Construction Chemicals Europe.

Resistant to biogenic sulfuric acid corrosion

The impact of wastewater in sewage systems and treatment plants can lead to the rapid deterioration of concrete surfaces and corrosion of concrete reinforcement and steel structures. MasterSeal 7000 CR's high resistance to abrasion and biogenic sulfuric acid corrosion is ideal for withstanding the harsh conditions encountered in pretreatment, aeration, sludge tanks and sewers. MasterSeal 7000 CR's dynamic and static crack bridging properties protect concrete even after non-structural cracks appear, extending the life cycle of the structure.

Another important advantage of this new resin technology is its resistance to moisture, both in the substrate and in the environment. MasterSeal 7000 CR can be sprayed or rolled on very moist substrates, and its rapid curing allows contact with pressurized water as early as 24 hours after application at 20°C. This combination of properties provides long-term concrete protection and significantly reduced structure failure time, making MasterSeal 7000 CR the ideal solution for wastewater systems.

"We are excited to launch this unique, probate system to offer the industry a solution that significantly extends the life cycle of concrete infrastructure," said Markus Scherler, Head of Business Segment Management Europe - Industrial and Concrete Refurbishment by BASF. "MasterSeal 7000 CR underlines BASF's commitment to keep innovating by expanding its waterproofing range for the global construction industry."
