Van der Werff Logistics recently signed an order for 22 Volvo trucks. Besides sustainability and safety, driver satisfaction was the main reason for choosing Volvo trucks. The FH and FM type trucks will mainly be used for construction logistics from the Brabant location in Elshout. Starting next year, Van der Werff will move to a new and larger facility in Waalwijk. The company will also retain its branch in Heerenveen.
The order for Van de Werff consists of ten Volvo FH 4×2 tractors, eight Volvo FH 6×2 rigids and four Volvo FM 4×2 tractors. The vehicles will mainly be used in construction logistics to transport products for finishing. These are mostly bulky goods such as insulation and piping, but also heavier materials such as bagged goods, panels, wood and steel products. In many cases, the trucks are equipped with a transportable forklift for unloading on site.
The trucks come with a Volvo Gold Contract. A service contract that includes full truck repairs, Volvo Trucks prescribed maintenance and roadside assistance. With the Real Time Monitoring option, various components of the truck can be remotely monitored and analyzed 24/7 and the information is used to prevent unplanned stops and convert them to a scheduled workshop visit. This increases truck availability and reliability.
"We have been driving Volvo trucks for much longer. Especially in terms of safety and reliability, we have had good experiences with the brand. The maintenance interval fits well with our annual commitment where we aim to go in once a year for maintenance and MOT," explains Theo van der Werff, director of Van der Werff Logistics.
The new trucks will be delivered by Volvo Trucks dealers LVS Trucks and BAS Truck Center. "Our trucks have sites all over the country and then, with an extensive dealer network combined with a service contract, it is convenient that you can go to a Volvo Trucks dealer anywhere," says Theo van der Werff.
Van der Werff Logistics' drivers were closely involved in the selection process. "Our drivers are very enthusiastic about the Volvo's. They particularly praise the shifting, but also the functional layout of the cabin and the overall look of the cars. We certainly factor that into our choice of truck brand," says Theo van der Werff.
In 2022, Van der Werff will move from Elshout in Brabant to a new and more spacious location in Waalwijk. "Currently we are still in Elshout, but since we are growing significantly, we will open a new, spacious location in Waalwijk next year where we can continue to grow. The fact that we will then be purchasing new Volvo vehicles again seems a logical choice. With regard to consumption and thus sustainability, we set the bar high. Volvo Trucks always scored excellently here. We are curious about the performance of the new trucks, but have every confidence that, in combination with good instruction and guidance from our drivers, they will again perform excellently," concludes Theo van der Werff.
