Antea Group and KPN signed a partnership July 14 regarding the use of the Data Services Hub (DSH). This makes Antea Group the first engineering and consultancy firm in the Netherlands to be able to safely acquire and unlock large amounts of data for clients via the DSH. "An important acceleration in the data-driven work that more and more governments are opting for," states Tanja Lendzion, CEO of the engineering and consultancy firm.
The role of data in our environment is growing. For example, more and more municipalities are using real-time environmental data to achieve their goals. Think of data on air quality or noise. But also data on public lighting, sewerage or infrastructure use. This provides valuable input to make better plans and budgets. Data-driven work also results in better informed choices, cost savings and accurate forecasts.
This growing demand for data brings new challenges. Léon Verhoeven, Business Line Director Data & Realization at Antea Group: "We are acquiring increasing amounts of data. Coming from sensors, but also from other data sources. You want to collect and access all that data in a safe and reliable way. The Data Services Hub takes care of this. Through this platform, we are able to let multiple data streams come in at a neutral place and then securely unlock them to users' applications and tools."
KPN is grateful for the trust and looks forward to working with Antea Group. Rutger Borst, business development manager at KPN: "The domain expertise of the engineering and consulting firm can be optimally converted into value through the use of the Data Services Hub. It enables Antea Group to develop new services in a short time that can be scaled up quickly."
To establish a partnership, KPN and Antea Group initiated a pilot in the municipality of Dronten this year. The municipality's management software was provided with additional data streams from the Signify street lighting. On the basis of this data, the municipality was able to map exactly what cost reduction Led lighting entails compared to the traditional fixtures. In addition, sensor data was unlocked to monitor the quality of the living environment. This is of great importance in view of the introduction of the Environment Act in early 2022.
