Master Builders Solutions® presents innovative solutions as sponsor of key 2020 concrete trade shows

Master Builders Solutions® will present its innovative aggregates solutions as a sponsor of the most influential European trade shows in 2020, such as the ICCX in Verona (Italy), the BIBM Congress in Copenhagen (Denmark), the online conference Digital Concrete 2020 or the BEFIB in Valencia (Spain). The broad product portfolio of Master Builders Solutions® - the world's number one in aggregates - offers total solutions for a wide range of applications such as premixed concrete, precast concrete fabrication, fabricated concrete products, 3D printing or Building Information Modeling (BIM). Above all, the innovative aggregates help save costs and resources and make construction more sustainable, efficient and economical. This is substantiated by success stories from across Europe.

Synthetic fiber reinforcement for a more durable and long-lasting solution

Take, for example, the current renovation of the Port of Barcelona, Spain, with MasterFiber - a product that will take center stage at the BIBM Congress on Nov. 15-17, 2020, in Copenhagen: 60,000 m2 of industrial land was optimized with polypropylene fibers to improve the site's chloride resistance and durability. This made a decisive contribution to the global footprint contribution to the global footprint of the project, as CO2 emissions when making the reinforcement could be reduced by 50 % compared to a steel fiber solution and by 40 % compared to a traditional reinforcement. The client Promsa, a Spanish construction company that is part of Cementos Molins, was very satisfied with MasterFiber: "We were able to reduce labor costs by 50 % because we did not have to use concrete pumps during installation. Moreover, less maintenance work is needed because there will be no corrosion in the industrial soil," said Jordi Altet, Quality and R&D manager at Promsa. The project is based on the BIM method and experts from Master Builders Solutions® were part of the design team. Together with the concrete producer, the owner and a designer, they were able to determine the ideal concrete mix for the project.

Largest BIM portfolio in the construction chemicals industry

"For us, virtual building models are an important technology for conceiving and designing construction works," said Philipp Kley, Senior Vice President Construction Chemicals Europe. "We want to use innovative software technologies to be at the forefront of Industry 4.0 in the construction industry." Master Builders Solutions®'s BIM portfolio is the largest in the Construction Chemicals industry, with currently more than 200 BIM objects and soon more than 400 Revit models from 13 different industry segments. With this expertise, Master Builders Solutions became a partner of the European Union's SPHERE project. The project aims to develop a software-based digital twin platform to enable the virtual replication of buildings to increase their energy efficiency, optimize their life cycle and reduce costs. The project runs until the fall of 2022 and has a project volume of €12.8 million.

Innovative and comprehensive portfolio for 3D printing applications

Another very hot topic is 3D printing of concrete, which will take center stage at the online conference RILEM International Conference on Concrete and Digital Fabrication from July 6 to 9. Master Builders Solutions® is collaborating with leading research institutions such as the Technical Universities of Brunswick and Munich for this. Customers will receive a customized product range ideally suited for 3D printing applications.

Cleaning and release agents for reduced formwork maintenance

The development of new technologies plays a crucial role for the experts at Master Builders Solutions®. With innovative solutions, they want to contribute to more sustainable construction methods together with their customers. Customer references from all over the world attest to this success: for example, the German precast concrete manufacturer IDEAL Beton, a member of the HUF Group, places the utmost importance on aesthetics and sustainability: "For the concrete elements, it is important to have a perfect surface," says Managing Director Sascha Stroeder. The customer has high demands and the exposed concrete must be particularly smooth and beautiful. For the release agents, IDEAL Beton also chose an environmentally friendly product. "By combining the release agent and the cleaner MasterFinish, we have found a solution that does not involve hazardous labeling and meets our high requirements for fair-faced concrete quality," says Stroeder. "Thanks to MasterFinish, cleaning costs have been reduced by about 30 % and we can use the formworks 50 % longer." The MasterFinish range will take center stage at ICCX in Verona from Oct. 21 to 25.

IDEAL Concrete's success story is one of many examples cited in Master Builders Solutions®'s "Quantified Sustainable Benefits" campaign, which was launched across Europe in 2017. The campaign focuses on projects where customers were able to increase productivity while reducing costs and emissions thanks to Master Builders Solutions®'s advanced chemistry. The campaign was awarded several prestigious prizes such as the German Design Award 2020 and the German Brand Award 2019 in the "storytelling and content marketing" category.
