Integrated transport for large and small packages

Since September 2024, transport company MTC Trans has been delivering small packages in addition to bulky goods. After a successful test phase, the project is ready for further rollout. The combination of a powerful routing system and proactive communication tools for both client and end customer, is making more and more stakeholders demand.

Every day, some six hundred packages leave MTC Trans' warehouses to all corners of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. The seven-member team of founder Yahya Amri manages this. With years of experience in the logistics sector, Amri is well acquainted with the challenges and pain points within transport. Based on his own insights and expertise, he set up a pragmatic and innovative system that flexibly serves both the client and the end customer. Even today, five years after its founding, he continues to continuously optimize the system.

Small and large packages in one shipment

Until recently, MTC Trans focused on the delivery of large, bulky goods. Thus, they are the regular transport partner of furniture giants such as Leen Bakker, SOFACOMPANY, Meubella and more. Since September last year, MTC Trans has also been testing small shipments. This expansion meets customer demand for an integrated logistics solution for a variety of goods, from furniture to smaller items such as decorations. "Why use two transporters for a dining table and a matching vase if it can be done in one shipment," Amri believes.

Innovative route system as a basis

After a cautious start, Amri decided to invest heavily in IT and digitalization. "Only after months of testing and fine-tuning did we develop a digital system that drastically shortens the traditional logistics chain," he explains. By eliminating two steps, MTC Trans saves not only time but also manpower. For deliveries, the transport company works with a select number of subcontractors. "We consciously choose quality over quantity. With a few regular partners we can build on, we remain scalable and reliable," Amri said. Those values are assets, as is the company's modest size: "We have the luxury of being flexible with package sizes, delivery times and customer requirements. Something unthinkable at large transportation companies."

Track-and-trace allows the customer and the client to track the order.

Real-time tracking for total transparency

In addition to flexibility, digitization within MTC Trans also offers transparency. Every step in the process is accurately recorded. Via a track-and-trace code, customers follow their package closely, from point of departure to front door. Clients also have full access to the delivery status. In addition, the company has real-time data on its vehicles, including exact street-level locations and stops visited. "If there is a problem with a delivery, we find out exactly where it went wrong, so we can quickly provide a solution to both the client and the end customer. Missing packages or misunderstandings rarely occur anymore."

Proactive communication with client and end customer

The delivery of large packages is always done in consultation with the customer. In addition, the customer is always proactively informed of each status update. MTC Trans does this by means of personalized mails and text messages on behalf of the client to avoid confusion. In case of delays, clients are always informed in advance so that they do not have to wait at home unnecessarily. Clients also have a clear overview at their fingertips at all times. "This streamlined flow limits unnecessary calling and emailing back and forth, which benefits each party," Amri concludes.
