Freezing, cooling and heating without worries

Fast delivery of temporary, flexible solutions

Imagine: a new refrigerated warehouse is completed, but the delivery of the refrigeration equipment is delayed, so it cannot be put into operation. It happened to Vice Versa from Oss. This renowned player in refrigeration and freezer logistics called in Coolworld Rentals for the temporary rental of equipment. Within two days, the cooling of the new warehouse could be started up with a flexible bridging solution.

Coolworld Rentals is an international full-service rental organization of cooling and heating equipment. Paul Verschuren: account manager wholesale & logistics Netherlands at Coolworld: "We can cool or heat large or small spaces at any desired temperature between -70°C to +50°C. Customers rent the equipment for a period starting from one week to as long as they need." 

The company was founded in 1994 and over the past 29 years has grown into an international player with two hundred employees in Europe, of which one hundred in the Netherlands. The company supplies various sectors: from food to pharmaceuticals, hospitals, retail, logistics, agriculture, wholesalers, but also, for example, equipment for cooling or heating office buildings. 

Flexible emergency solution

Vice Versa in Oss recently expanded the existing building with a new 24,000 m3 freezer room. When this new building was completed, however, there was no refrigeration installation. In order not to disappoint customers, the company started looking for an emergency solution. Guus van den Boogaard, one of the owners of Vice Versa: "We had a number of options, and initially everyone said they could help us. Often that was not the case in the end. But Coolworld came the same afternoon with a concrete proposal with costs. We gave it a 'go' and then it was realized surprisingly quickly. We don't know yet when the fixed installation will be ready. For us, it's crucial to transition seamlessly. The flexibility offered by Coolworld is a huge plus in this regard."

Specific system

Verschuren explains how this project was taken up: "I received a call in the morning and went straight there. After talking to Vice Versa's technical manager and their installer, it was clear what was needed and we were able to make a proposal. The next day we were able to start bringing the temperature down to -20°C. That took several days. Because this is a new building, this had to be done step by step; otherwise cracks would appear in the concrete." 

Low temp chillers were used with this customer: chillers that work with glycol. Coolworld is one of the few companies in the industry that rents these machines, which are used for cooling rooms colder than -10°C. The system is powered by Vice Versa's 12,000 solar panels.

Coolworld is available day and night in case of emergencies. The company counts chains such as McDonalds and Albert Heijn among its customers. Although Coolworld also supplies temporary extra cooling capacity to flower wholesalers, for example, who want to keep extra stock around certain holidays or for events. There are solutions for spaces from small to large.
