Used warehouse shelving is on the rise

Begra Group has been known for years as the warehouse wholesaler of the Benelux. The company supplies a complete range of warehouse racking, mezzanine floors and warehouse supplies. But according to Sales Manager Kevin Vos, Begra's strength also lies precisely in the used warehouse equipment market. "Reuse suits this time: it is sustainable and financially attractive. We have the largest stock of used warehouse racks in the Benelux and thus offer an attractive alternative that meets the needs of more and more entrepreneurs."

The fact that Begra is a pioneer in the used racking market has everything to do with the scale on which the company operates. With a total storage capacity of 27,500 m², it has the largest stock of used warehouse racking in the Benelux. In doing so, used warehouse racking is virtually inferior to new materials, Vos emphasizes. "A used warehouse racking should be just as safe and solid in every respect as a new construction. Every used rack is thoroughly checked before it goes on sale, so that it meets all safety requirements. In addition, our experts also take care of the inspections of the used structures."

More economical and sustainable

Demand for used warehouse equipment is growing rapidly. This is not surprising, according to Vos. "For many companies, warehouse racking is a significant cost item. Choosing used systems can quickly reduce the investment by up to forty percent compared to new. That price advantage is attractive, especially at a time when margins are under pressure. In addition, the quality of used warehouse racking is guaranteed thanks to our thorough inspections."

A practical example underlines that advantage: recently Begra delivered a complete used pallet rack to a logistics service provider, saving the customer over sixty thousand euros compared to new equipment. "It is exactly this kind of result that convinces entrepreneurs," Vos said.

But money is not the only driver. Sustainability also plays an increasing role. "By choosing used racks, you avoid new production processes, and thus additional CO2 emissions. So companies not only save on their budget, but also actively contribute to the circular economy in this way."

Combination of new and used

Sometimes a used lot does not fully match a customer's specific requirements. In that case, Begra offers customized solutions. Vos: "We regularly apply cross-pollination: we combine used systems with new components. This may be necessary, for example, when additional load capacity is required or when certain dimensions are missing. This way we can always offer a solution that meets the demand both technically and financially. And, of course, we also supply complete used equipment, whenever that is possible."

Active buyback policy

Begra not only sells used systems, but also actively buys them. This is often done in the event of business closures, relocations or replacement of existing equipment. "We are constantly looking for parties who want to dispose of their warehouse inventory," Vos says. "Think not only of pallet racks, but also plastic bins, shelving, large-shelf racks, mezzanine floors, storage cabinets and transport equipment. The larger the lot, the better. Thanks to our large storage capacity and years of experience, we can take over complete warehouse inventories, dismantle, transport and even ensure that the premises are swept clean. In this way, we take an enormous amount of work off the hands of entrepreneurs. Unburdening is in our DNA."

Future-oriented

The trend toward recycling is irreversible, according to Vos. Companies want to reduce their CO2 footprint and save costs at the same time. Used warehouse racking is an excellent way to unite both goals. "More and more entrepreneurs are consciously choosing this," says the sales manager. "We have the stock, the expertise and the storage capacity to relieve them of this completely. This makes us the ideal partner for any logistics organization that wants to invest in a safe, efficient and sustainable warehouse layout in a future-oriented way."
