Local governments value sustainability and environmental friendliness. So does the city of Kortrijk. In the search for an environmentally safe solution for the storage of drums and barrels, the city of Kortrijk opted for Plastibac's solutions. Together they outlined a plan to use retention bins for this purpose.
Retention bins and platforms are used to store and transport environmentally harmful liquids such as oil, chemicals or solvents. Thus, leaks and spills can be safely contained. The retention pallets are manufactured in recycled, chemically resistant PE. The platforms can be further supplemented with matching ramp elements to move drums and barrels with a transport chassis. The collected liquids can thus be properly recycled in a safe manner.
The choice of retention bins offers some very concrete advantages. Such solutions are important to comply with laws and regulations regarding the storage and transport of environmentally harmful substances. They not only serve to protect the environment, but also ensure that employees work in a safe working environment. Drip trays and platforms also ensure that the (concrete) floor is not affected by the chemicals, thus extending the life of these surfaces.
The project in Kortrijk had to meet some clear specifications. City of Kortrijk wanted to fully equip a specific surface for the storage of chemical liquids. By combining modular platforms of 1600×800 mm. and 1600×1600 mm. the Plastibac team was able to draw a sketch that ensured that the entire 20m² surface was equipped as a drip platform. The small platforms have a static load of 1000 kg. and a storage capacity of 100 liters. With the large platforms, this is double.
Overlying profiles were provided between the platforms and at the corners, so that any leaking fluid is always collected in the retention tank and cannot escape between the seams of the platforms. In this way, employees, environment and infrastructure are maximally protected and the city of Kortrijk can realize its ecological ambitions.
