Crash protection must first and foremost do what it promises: stop a vehicle before it can do any damage. But just as important is what you prevent in the process: downtime, repairs and unsafe situations on the shop floor. “Companies today are looking beyond just protection,” says Twan den Hartog, General Manager of Boplan Netherlands. “Modern logistics environments demand solutions that are not only strong, but also thoughtfully deployed. With a view to a safe and efficient working environment, we at Boplan start from three clear principles: transparency, sustainability and innovation.”
At Boplan, every project begins on the shop floor. Den Hartog: “We literally stand next to the customer in the warehouse or on the site. There we look at how traffic is running, where risks arise and what is really needed to manage those risks. From that insight, we provide customized advice.”
That approach is supported by the Boplan Impact Calculator. With this online tool, based on weight, speed and impact angle, you easily calculate the required impact resistance yourself, expressed in joules and linked to the right solutions. “The customer sees exactly what is needed and why. That makes it possible to invest very specifically: not too light, not too heavy, but with the right robustness.”

Sustainability is given practical expression at Boplan, with solutions designed for longevity and maximum reusability. “An industrial environment is constantly changing. That's why we develop solutions that can grow with it. If a customer moves or changes its layout, we can reuse or adapt existing systems. That makes an investment more sustainable and economically interesting.”
Boplan's sustainable course is confirmed by the EcoVadis Silver sustainability label. With a score of 73 out of 100, the company is among the top four percent in the industry.
Innovation at Boplan translates into solutions that go beyond mere protection. The in-house R&D department continuously develops and refines products.
Emmanuel Lioen, marketing and e-commerce manager: “Because we have development, production, sales and installation in-house, we can respond quickly to what is happening with customers. Innovation is not born here on paper, but from real situations on the shop floor.” This results in solutions such as the strongest plastic protective post in the world and the electric Dock Gate with light and sound signals. “It's about more than impact resistance. We want to guide behavior and make situations visually clear so that incidents are avoided.”

Boplan's approach translates into concrete applications with customers. “At Quooker, aesthetics played a role in addition to safety,” says Lioen. “There we delivered solutions in recognizable red that perfectly matched their visual identity, without sacrificing performance. And that was to their liking, as we will soon be securing their new facility as well.”
French cannery manufacturer Bonduelle also took an integrated approach. “There it was about creating overview, structuring traffic flows and protecting critical infrastructure. The result is a working environment that is not only safer, but also operates more efficiently.”
Through transparent advice, sustainable choices and continuous innovation, Boplan helps companies manage risks structurally. “In the end, it's all about control and certainty. As a customer, you want to be sure that your environment is safe and that your investment is right, today and in the future,” concludes den Hartog.
