Haagh Protection has been a global supplier of (safety) swing gates for 45 years, marketing them under the name Variogate. They comply with EN 14122-3 and are TÜV certified. “By investing in a Variogate, you are investing in safety,” says Kay Mullenders, director of the company.
In warehouses, logistics centers, and industrial environments, work is often carried out at height. A safety tilt gate is essential here. It reduces the risk of falls and protects against accidents, provided that the tilt gate is well designed and correctly installed. “An attractive tilt gate is not enough. If someone drives into it with a pallet truck, it must offer protection. That is why we have designed our tilt gates to the highest standards and they are manufactured with high-quality materials, including strong steel, to meet the most stringent requirements. This contributes to the longer life of the product. They are also low-maintenance and have a long service life.”

The Variogates comply with the strictest safety standards. “The European standard EN 14122-3 sets requirements for the construction, height, and strength of fencing used in workplaces at height, such as landings and work platforms. The construction must also be able to withstand the weight of a person falling or leaning on it. Because tilt gates are part of the general guardrail system, it is crucial that they also comply with the same safety guidelines. Our Variogates also comply with additional standards, such as EN 1090-1 for structural reliability, ISO 9001 for quality management, and NEN 6702 for load and strength calculations. What's more, they are TÜV-certified. They are inspected annually with a thorough audit that extensively tests not only the design but also the construction work. This includes checking the welds and testing the impact resistance and durability of the materials.”

“We attach great importance not only to theory but also to proven safety in practice,” says Mullenders. “Thanks to relevant certification, we offer demonstrable certainty in the areas of safety, reliability, and compliance with laws and regulations. Pursuing high standards helps prevent accidents, increase safety in the workplace, and ensure that companies comply with both European standards and the Working Conditions Act.”

Haagh Protection's tilt gates are designed and tested to withstand intensive use and unexpected forces over the long term. “We have also recently started carrying out periodic inspections to identify potential hazards and address them preventively. After all, a thorough visual inspection can make all the difference in ensuring effectiveness and reliability. In practice, we regularly encounter tilt gates that were installed 10 or 15 years ago and are still in excellent condition thanks to proper use and regular inspection.”
But accidents can always happen in the workplace. “If someone drives a pallet truck into the tilt gate or there has been another impact that has caused damage, we recommend that you contact us. Our specialists will assess which parts need to be replaced. Because we work with thirty standard configurations, we always have a large stock available in our warehouse. This allows us to deliver replacement parts quickly and minimize unnecessary downtime. Together with companies, we invest in the future and a safe working environment.”
