High quality (safety) tilt gates or passage devices

Haagh Protection has been pioneering the creation of safe workplaces for more than 44 years. The company is a global supplier of anti-slip elements and (safety) tilt fences, or pass-through devices, which Haagh Protection markets under the name Variogate. "If you choose Variogate, then you are assured of a high-quality safety product," states Kay Mullenders, director of the company.

"High-quality safety devices are essential on a floor, storey or platform to prevent goods or people from falling down through the opening. We can provide those with our Variogate solutions," begins Mullenders. There are several variants on the market: With the barrier type, goods are transported directly to the rear. This solution is used, for example, when working with a crane track. The opening in height is then completely free. The guillotine type is suitable for situations where the space behind the push-up opening is limited. The tumbler type (18/22/26 series) is the most universal variant. Three rectangular arms placed in a side frame, tilt along the side of the goods allowing safe work at all times. "With eleven different standard solutions equipped with more than thirty configurations, there is always a solution that is suitable for the specific application and ensures safety. Moreover, Haagh Protection continues to develop to bring even more techniques and new types of products to the market with the aim of serving even more customers."

Safety above all

"Our products meet the required legal safety requirements and we have them certified by an independent body - TÜV," Mullenders states. "In addition, we have an annual audit performed by TÜV. We not only follow the guidelines, but also pursue them such as ISO 9001, for example." Variogate has also passed the Dutch "glass bead pendulum test" according to NEN 6702. "This test assesses the impact resistance and durability of materials (see box). It is yet another confirmation that our products can withstand harsh conditions and maintain their integrity under stress."

Visual inspection

Mullenders also recommends that companies conduct an annual visual inspection. "It's important to check for possible damages, cracks or other defects that may affect safety due to use. After all, safety is a topic that deserves constant attention. Fortunately, more and more companies are embracing this vision. To unburden customers, we also offer tools to achieve a reliable visual inspection so they can be confident that Variogate solutions continue to meet applicable safety standards."

Satisfied customers

Haagh Protection's customers are very satisfied. "Our client TotalEnergies informed us, 'We use the Variogate products to protect our colleagues from fall hazards, while also being able to place pallets on the mezzanine. We choose Haagh Protection's Variogate products because of the height, roof and fire doors of our warehouse behind them. These are also very specific dimensions, so we can only use this type of product, which also works seamlessly within our factory. From the moment of arrival, they were solution-oriented, and the technicians are very skilled. Everything fits perfectly, and the communication is strong and solution-oriented. Therefore, we are very satisfied. I definitely recommend Haagh Protection to other companies." We receive such messages regularly and they show that high-quality safety products can be seamlessly integrated into existing processes."

Description of the Glass bead pendulum test for Variogate tilt gates

The Glass Bead Pendulum Test is a test method used to assess the impact resistance of fencing and gates. This test simulates an impact by swinging a heavy bag filled with glass beads against the fence and observing how the structure absorbs and resists the impact. Variogate successfully passed this test:

- The object (glass bead bag) did not pass through the structure
- The Variogate tilt gate remained completely intact
- No parts larger than 100 mm² (1 cm x 1 cm) were detached
- No openings larger than 10 centimeters were created
- No dangerous situations occur that could cause injury
- The attachment/anchoring remained completely intact
