Warehouses, distribution centers and production sites are constantly looking for solutions that not only provide protection, but are also durable, cost-effective and future-proof. A-SAFE, pioneer in plastic safety solutions, presents two notable innovations: all-plastic collision protection and smart data collection via RackEye™.
Managing Director Jean Pascual sums it up to the point: "Logistics is all about efficiency and speed, but without security, everything comes into question. With our new generation of solutions, we want to give companies the tools to not only reduce risk, but also actively manage it."
A-SAFE has made a name for itself worldwide with its plastic safety barriers, which, thanks to its patented Memaplex polymer, combine unprecedented impact resistance with flexibility and durability. Yet one challenge remained: floor mounting. In conventional systems, steel is often the weakest link in the structure, as impact forces transfer directly to the anchors in the ground.
Jean Pascual explains why the latest development is a real gamechanger: "With our new generation of barriers, we are switching completely to plastic, with no steel still needed in the construction. We are currently the only manufacturer who can offer this. The result is uniform impact absorption along the entire length of the barrier, regardless of where a vehicle collides. Technically, this is a revolution in our industry."
The benefits are clear: less deformation, better protection of floors and vehicles, and significantly lower maintenance and replacement costs. The first applications are already visible in Germany and the United States. In Belgium, the launch is planned from the end of 2025, with a broad rollout in 2026.
In addition to physical protection, A-SAFE is fully committed to digitalization. With RackEye™ and the integration of smart sensors in barriers, every impact is recorded and analyzed. So companies no longer have to wait for visible damage or employee reports: the technology delivers real-time insight.
"Every collision, no matter how small, tells something about the way work is done," Pascual said. "Data collection allows companies to recognize patterns: do collisions always happen during the same shift? Are they the same drivers? Are they minor or major incidents? That information enables targeted actions, such as retraining drivers or redesigning busy areas."
The data are accessible via an app and cloud dashboard, which allows companies to analyze trends and structurally strengthen their safety culture. In addition, the technology has a behavioral impact: drivers know their actions are being monitored and automatically drive more carefully.
That these innovations are not stuck in a laboratory is proven by collaborations with major e-commerce companies and international logistics players. For example, RackEye™ has already been successfully applied at companies such as Vaillant and Europa Worldwide Group, where the technology led to both increased safety and measurable cost savings.
Pascual emphasizes the importance of that hands-on approach: "We don't develop technology for technology's sake. Everything we do has to make a tangible difference in the daily work of logistics professionals. It's that translation of innovation to the shop floor that drives us."
A-SAFE faces the future with confidence. The combination of 100 percent plastic barriers and smart data collection is the blueprint for the next generation of security solutions, according to Pascual. "Security should not be seen as an additional cost, but as an investment that pays off. Less damage, less downtime and better employee performance: that's the real profit."
