Webfleet extends OEM.connect partner program to trailers in partnership with Schmitz Cargobull

  • Webfleet extends OEM.connect to trailers in partnership with Schmitz Cargobull.
  • Schmitz Cargobull trailers can connect directly to the Webfleet platform without additional hardware.
  • Customers will have access to all Webfleet Trailer features for optimal use, safety and security.

Webfleet, Bridgestone's world-leading fleet management solution, is expanding its OEM.connect partner program to trailers. Schmitz Cargobull, Europe's leading manufacturer of trailers for temperature-controlled transport, general cargo and bulk transport, is the first trailer manufacturer to join the OEM.connect program. The partnership allows fleet operators to easily connect Schmitz Cargobull trailers to Webfleet via the built-in factory telematics, without additional hardware installations. This gives them access to comprehensive trailer data to increase deployment, reduce downtime and improve overall safety and security.

Maximize trailer performance

"Trailers are the backbone of long-haul transportation, but managing a trailer fleet can be challenging" says Taco van der Leij, Vice President Webfleet Europe at Bridgestone Mobility Solutions. "With our proven Webfleet Trailer solution, now directly accessible through OEM data, we offer even more companies real-time data insights and valuable analytics to maximize trailer performance. We are pleased to partner with Schmitz Cargobull and offer our customers a seamless integration with Europe's leading trailer manufacturer."

Smart trailer management with integrated data

Commercial fleet operators can easily connect their trailers to the Webfleet platform via the telematics portal Schmitz Cargobull TrailerConnect® using their VIN number. Because the telematics are factory installed, time and costs for additional hardware installations are saved. Users benefit from advanced Webfleet functions such as trip data monitoring, location and maintenance control, safety monitoring and monitoring of load, tire pressure (TPMS) and temperature data.

Sören Danielsen, Manager Strategy & Business Development at Schmitz Cargobull, added: "With our TrailerConnect® Data Management Center, carriers have complete control over their data, which they can efficiently share with third parties. By creating intelligent links between vehicle, route and order information, we can now not only manage location and temperature data, but also easily share it with third-party systems throughout the supply chain, benefiting all parties."

The collaboration between Webfleet and Schmitz Cargobull was announced at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2024 in Hannover, Germany. The integrated solution is now available to European Webfleet customers. Webfleet expects to further expand the program to include trailers from other manufacturers in the near future.
