The overpass at the entrance to The Hague is being widened. For this project, Waco produced the precast edge elements, bridge deck girders, precast center walls and riser plates.
The municipality of The Hague has designated nine city entrances that welcome visitors and residents to the city. The A12- Utrechtsebaan is also part of these entrances, and has been labeled a 'green entrance'. The Hague is working on a recognizable city entrance near the Central Station.
A green connection will be realized between the Haagse Bos and the Koekamp/Malieveld by means of a "work of art" over the Utrechtsebaan. The crossing will be about 25 meters wider. The crossing will have shrubs and trees, making the transition feel like one natural whole for cyclists and walkers.
A bicycle path and footpath will be installed on the structure, surrounded by substantial vegetation. All this must coincide with a slender design in connection with the headway on the A12-Utrechtsebaan and the connections to the surrounding ground level adjacent to the tunnel trench.
In early January, contractor Schouls Brothers been busy with site layout, preparatory work and tree transplanting. This will be followed by the construction of the widened canopy. To minimize disruption to traffic, the work will be carried out mainly on weekends and weekday evenings. After construction, the canopy will be landscaped green. The project is expected to be completed in May.
For this project, Waco provided the engineering and produced the precast edge elements, bridge deck girders, precast center walls and riser plates.
With our structural precast concrete elements, every structure stands firmly on the ground. Waco's bridges and overpasses range from sleek and elegant, to more bold and robust structures, without compromising on appearance. Read more about the bridges from Waco
