Safe automatic machine quick change for smaller excavators - Engcon's latest product innovation

This was already achieved for excavators over 6 tons, and now Engcon is similarly increasing flexibility, efficiency and safety for smaller excavators. With the introduction of the latest innovation, Engcon's S40 automatic quick coupler, the range of automatic quick couplers now covers all machines from 2 to 40 tons. The new quick coupler has the same safety features as the larger and earlier models in Engcon's attachment range.

In parallel with the launch, the EC206 swivel tilt attachment is also being updated with a new top connection, making it compatible with Engcon's automatic quick-change system. As a result, automatic coupling and uncoupling of the swivel tilt attachment is now also available for machines in the 4 to 6-ton class.

"Even for smaller excavators, there is a clearly increasing demand for the ability to connect hydraulic attachments without leaving the cab. The challenge was to accommodate our innovative and proven technical solutions in the relatively small quick-change housing, but in the end we were able to solve this in a good way," says Fredrik Jonsson, head of R&D at Engcon Group.

As was previously true of the larger Engcon swivel tilters, the new S40 also requires ground pressure to open the implement locking system under the swivel tilt. Built-in sensors detect when the bucket axles are in the correct position, and if something is wrong, the system alerts with sound and light signals both in the cab and outside the machine.

"We clearly notice that safety regarding excavators is becoming higher on the agenda, especially the problem with buckets coming loose due to improper handling. With our machine and tiltrotator quick couplings and our intelligent locking system QSC, these risks are minimized," says Fredrik Jonsson.

EC-Oil (automatic coupling of hydraulics, electricity and central lubrication) comes standard with the simultaneous purchase of an Engcon quick coupler, swivel tilt and DC2 control system.

Optional ground pressure function is also available for the machine quick change, as well as an additional locking function. The latter locks the swing function of the machine if the attachment is incorrectly connected.

The S40 quick coupler with automatic oil, electric and lubrication function coupler and the new top connection for the EC206 (4-6 tons) swivel tilt attachment will be launched in June 2021. Around the turn of 2021/2022, the automatic quick coupler will then become available for under the EC206 swivel tilt attachment.
